    Sony updates.

    Well...

It's been almost six months now. And still no fix for the "mandatory" updates to fix the problem why the 3.- updates are especially bricking launch model "phat" PS3's blu-ray players.

The new "mandatory" updates changes the speed of the blu-ray player lasers reading game and disc info. Therefore bricking many, and I mean many, launch models. I've read over thousands of posts claiming this.Trust me, I am anything, but also cautious.

Download the new update, and if you have a Launch model, you're playing roulette.
50% you might make it...50% you won't. Now to you, is that good odds?

Now mind you, if you don't "update", you can't get online. The servers will "detect" if you have the new update, and lock you out of the games you already have, until you do. Also add the fact that all of the new games can "detect" which update you have, and have the new "updates" installed on them, so if you play them, or try to, it will lock you out of the games you allready have installed, unless you "update" to their "mandatory" updates.

So that way you're caught in a "catch 22".

You can't get online, or it will "catch you". And if you buy any new games ? Guess what..it will "catch you". Don't want to get online...we'll get you. Buy a new game, well guess what? it will detect what update you have, and not only lock you out off your old games. And force you to update wether you want it or not.

    And this is "customer service?".

I risk bricking my machine if I download any updates through 3.0-3.15. and if it does brick my machine. It's my faultsince I "agreed" through the EULA? And now I have to send them $150.00 to fix it?

And this to you is fair?

Just to get "sparkles", two clocks, and many unwanted links to the PSN store, and a ticker I can't remove?

    Honestly?

Would you risk bricking a $ 600.00 machine for that?

Am I just the asshole here?

I'm just waiting for them (Sony) to fix what's wrong with their new "firmware".

Just gimme a new "update" that won't risk bricking my machine.

Is that too much to ask?

Just leave me alone. I didn't ask for more links to the PSN store.
Nobody asked for the PS3 jingle to be removed on game start up.
why can't you just simply listen to us as a whole?

Why are the new updates bricking Launch machines?

    And it's "our" fault ?

Just send us $150.00, and we'll make it right again?

    And this is "okay"..?

And it's just me that has a problem with this?

My brother's console broke on him about last month. He first called Sony, This is what they said"We can't do anything for you"(Not kidding). So he opened up the PS3, And he fixed it however it didn't entirely fix the problem since he got the YLOD again.

That is another issue there has been a rumor floating about how MW2 on the PS3 is causing some older PS3s to YLOD. It's as if Sony is deliberately making consoles brick on purpose so that they can regain lost revenue after the failure that is the PSP GO, And bad marketing for the PS3.

So this weekend he plans to go to get it fix at a local game store that fixes these consoles professionally. I know they do these things well because this is the same store in NY where I modded my PS2 to play Japanese types of games, And some copied games( though it never really worked the copy games I mean).

Anywho it truly sucks how Sony can be they were probably better when they first started off on the PS1, But I can't blame a company name, But I Should blame the people that are currently leading the company into the downward sprial. Sony has to pick up the pace after their mistakes(PS3 price range when it first came out, And the PSPGO). I can go into it more, But i'll stop since I'm gonna go eat something now.

All this will do is lead to the future of gaming. Just thinking of a past discussion on the thread about streaming games live over the internet. This is the kind of stuff that will lead to mistrust in the hardware. In the long run this wont do them any favors...

        .
That's just rumor and people are finding some way to complains. Sony or any other company would be absolutely fucking retarded if they did that. Look at Toyota....do they want that. Sure companies spend millions to have their engineers and legal department scheme/tinker with their product to maximize profit...but to delibertaly put out a flawed product is not good for business at all. Especially in global market/competition.

A democracy cannot exist as a permanent form of government. It can only exist until the voters discover that they can vote themselves largesse from the public treasury. From that moment on, the majority always votes for the candidates promising the most benefits from the public treasury with the result that a democracy always collapses over loose fiscal policy, always followed by a dictatorship. Well, I shouldn't drink and post that late at nite.

I had a buddy over for dinner tonight, and he has a launch model also. He updated his thru his AC2 disc, and it worked perfectly. Which I've read about before, that discs and USB's work fine, but the Net one crashes alot.

It's as if Sony is deliberately making consoles brick on purpose so that they can regain lost revenue.
Which is odd, since my friend said the exact same thing tonight. But also added that he though Sony has a hard on against people that want B/C. That Sony wants everyone on Slims, to make everything just easier for them. I dunno. He doesn't use his PS3 online, as he doesn't have DSL. He updated so he could play the new games. Oh, and he hates the new changes too. He told me he'll bring his disc over, and maybe we can update mine also. He also agreed with me, that the new firmware came out, and so many people have their machines not work, or start acting up after download, for that many people to have problems, the odds for it to be all coincidence, would be astronomical in proportion.

I certainly thought by now they would've figured out what the weird bug in the firmware burning out the Blu-ray's on launchs, and fix it. Even if they didn't want to "officially" announce it. And now I've read the 3.15 is yet again another roll of the dice for launchs. *sighs*

I'm not even mad about it anymore. I'm just depressed that they haven't fixed the firmware yet by now. I'm also annoyed that I'm being manipulated by a corporation, and their product that I paid for. If Sony wants to make updates that makes the machine work better, or work with new TV's and Surround sound systems, and new music and movies...That's GREAT ! and I support it 100%. That just makes the system that much better. But just to mostly make cosmetic changes to the GUI, that no one was even asking for or wanted, and you can't change it back? Would you by a computer that you couldn't wipe and restore, or you couldn't add a new or different OS? And truth be told, the PS3 is basically a high powered computer.

So Sony has put me between a rock, and a hard place. I can't get online with it, and now I can't buy any new games for it. That's a nice 'lil trick by them. I'm a patient guy. I've waited for almost six months now...and no fix. I would've figured with there being almost 600 combined pages of people hating on this new firmware, Sony would've taken the hint by now, and either fixed it, and/or given us options to change things.

          I guess I was wrong..lol!.

For me it's just a matter of personal taste. I know beyond a doubt that there are a lot of people that love it. And good for them. God bless'em.

I unfortunately, am not one of them. And I'm faaaaaaar from being alone. I guess I'm just the only one in the DSA. And that's okay with me, I'm cool with that. If you disagree with me, that's okay too. Just don't insult me or call me names. I certainly don't do that to anyone that doesn't agree with me. I can respect someone for having a different opinion if they're not being an asshole.

I'm just fustrated, and tired of not being able to get online, or buy anything new.
As I've said in other posts, I've been a consumer rights advocate loooong before this happened. I believe that you should be able to buy toys for your kids that don't have lead in them, or foods with poisins and chemicals in them, just because company "X" wants to save money, or make more money. I believe that if a company wants to make more money, it should take care of their customers, not just fuck them out of their money. Microsoft learned this, why can't Sony?
In the long run, it just makes better sense.

If your car breaks down, and you take it somewhere to get fixed and they screw you, you bet your ass, you'll never go there again. But if they treat you with respect, fix your car, and even save you some cash, or do something extra, you'll be a customer for life. And not only that..You'll tell everyone you know how great you were treated, the same as if they royally screwed you.

For Sony to say their firmware updates aren't screwing up the Blu-Ray drives on most launch models is an outright lie. Now mind you, it may be a minority in regards to overall units sold, it is indeed happening. And because it's a minority, instead of a majority like the 360, they claim it's not their "fault". That's why Sony now has a class action lawsuit against them. And if it bricks my machine, I'll be joining them.

You, as a consumer, should have your products do exactly what they say they can, and will do. For a company to say "It can only do "everything" when it clearly can't, is an outright lie.

          It can't play PS2 games.

It won't allow you to change the OS anymore.

You cannot change/remove most features to the GUI or desktop.

It cannot restore to a former version.

Most webpages are fixed for I.E., so the pages are weird or won't load up on the browser. Try to sign into Yahoo mail thru the browser, or youtube.

You cannot play anything old or new, until you download "mandatory" updates. (that is if it detects it)

This is "everything"..? :( No thanks.

But alas, I digress, as I do on these rants. Us Bond Villians do that from time to time, I guess it a common fault for us. Go figure. It always gets us in the end.

I'm not going to post anything more like this from now on. This last one was just a Vodka fueled rant at 3am. And if I honestly upset anyone, Please accept that I'm truly sorry. They're are just alcohol induced ranting. Kinda like a "pressure release" valve. Nothing more, nothing less. Don't take offense, because I didn't mean any.

          Ciao Romanos, and God bless.

              But that's the point.

Should we now expect our products to do what they say they can do ?

              "It can only do everything?"

              Besides what.

Allow us to change what we want ?.

              Nope.

Not yet. Tough luck for you.

But I don't want 3 more links to the PSN store, that I can't remove!.

              "Tough shit...eat it".

But I don't want a new GUI, the other worked just fine, as it was.

              "Tough shit...eat it."

But it might brick my machine, I have a launch model, and it's fraggin' it.

Tough shit. You "agreed" to it, it's not our fault, even if our "firmware" fucked it, you "agreed" to it through the EULA. Once again, it's not our "fault". Give us $150.00 and we'll fix it, but not legally admit it's our fault.

"Oh and by the way, we've set up our new games to detect what firmware you have installed, and not only lock you out of your old games, but your new ones also".

"That is, until you "update", and re-brand your machine."

"I know it's not nice, but we have to re-brand your machine, to fit our new corporate image. You may not like it, but overall, it's our choice, not yours."

"After all we know what's best for you, because you cannot decide for yourself what you want, and need."

"You need more links to the PSN store. We need your money, plain and simple. It's not like you could think for yourself and find it on your own. We have to remind you. Even if you don't like it. Tough shit. Just please eat it."

"And if you have a launch model", it's not our fault. Why you assholes want backwards compability is beyond us. We have soo many new games now. Why do soo many keep bitching about it?."

"I mean after all is said and done, you have "sparkles". "and a great new "friendslist".

"Why are soo many of you bitching ?"

"Just give us $!50.00 and we'll make it all alright again".

              "Class action lawsuit? WTF?"

"After all, we do know what's best for you.....Right?"

              *Sighs*

Just please come up with a new "firmware" that won't risk bricking my machine.

Is that really too much to ask?

              Honestly?

I just want to get online with my friends, and not risk fucking up a $600.00 machine, to get shit I didn't want in the first place.

Please Sony, can't you just give me "options"...?

              That's all.

If you like the new updates, God bless ya'll, and I'm glad you like it. Don't flame me, as I'm glad you like the new "changes". It's just not for me. I respect you, just respect me back.

Because after all is said and done, opinions are like diapers. Everyone has one, and they're usually full of shit.

And trust me, I may not always be right, but I'm damn sure I am...LOL!!!
