Swbf3 is cancelled. Had been developed by /6

swbf3 was being worked on by slant 6 and clearly can't stick to timelines has to lay people off since Lucas arts cancelled swbf online. Looks like two more years at least.

Was SWBF Online ever officially classed as SWBF III. Or were they completely different entities? I thought the SWBF Online was (yet another) MMO type game they were working on, and not necessarily the SWBFIII that we saw the leaked videos from Free Radical.

I think it was going to be an online ONLY game much like Socom Confrontation is, that was my interpretation. Maybe we will see it maybe we won't but I will warn you guys I think this time you will have A LOT of stuff from the Clone Wars cartoons, that is my only worry.

Main article: Star Wars: Battlefront III

Star Wars: Battlefront III is the sixth installment in the Star Wars: Battlefront series (third excluding handheld-exclusive editions listed above). It was originally speculated that Free Radical Design would be developing the game, after announcing that they were working on a "Secret LucasArts Project" on August 23, 2006.[5]; however, on December 18th, 2008, Free Radical Design announced that their company had gone into administration, and that the project had been handed down to Rebellion Developments, the developers behind Star Wars Battlefront: Renegade Squadron.[6] On June 7, 2008, an alleged ex-LucasArts employee came forward to Kotaku and unofficially announced several games in development, including Star Wars: Battlefront III.[7] On October 2, 2008, the OFLC listed Star Wars: Battlefront 3 for the Nintendo DS with a T rating, filed by Activision Blizzard.[8] On December 28, 2008, renditions of Star Wars characters surfaced from a laid-off employee of Free Radical, bearing the Star Wars Battlefront III watermark.[9] On January 15, 2009, footage of Star Wars: Battlefront III was leaked.[10] In addition to updated graphics, changes from the first two installments of the series appear to include the ability to fly from ground to space and board orbiting space craft with no loading screens.[10] The following day, more information was leaked regarding the title's departure from Free Radical--and, with it, the loss of the "complete freedom" that the video showed (October 2008).[11] Information came to light regarding a possible story line which involved a "Dark Obi-Wan Kenobi".[12] It is unknown if this storyline or the "complete freedom" style of play will continue with the title to its new developer (said to be Rebellion Studios), or even if the title is still in production. An employee of the intended new developer, Rebellion Studios, said that the game was passed to them, but then got passed to Pandemic Studios. However, a post made by an administrator on the official Pandemic forums denied that the company was making the game.[13] The administrator, who was also a company spokesperson, said: "As of right now, I can say Battlefront III is not currently at Pandemic. While I know the title seems to be up in the air from all the buzz around the web... LucasArts will be the only one knowing where the title is at right now."[14] LucasArts has made no official announcement regarding the current status of Star Wars: Battlefront III.
        [edit] Star Wars: Battlefront Online

Star Wars: Battlefront Online is rumored to be the next installment in the series. On January 28, 2010, Kotaku reported that SOCOM developer Slant Six Games was working with Lucasarts to develop an online-only Battlefront title due in 2011. The game is said to be released for the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3. It was also stated that this game may have been the source of the Star Wars: Battlefront IV concept art renders.[15] However, it has been revealed that the game has been cancelled after the studio was unable to meet its 2010 release deadline.[16]
So from Free Radical, to Rebellion, to Pandemic, to Slant Six? I don't see that as possible. If it is, it's like buying coke from the cousin of a crackhead in the middle of the woods. It's been stepped on by four different developers?!

That's what makes me think that it was two different projects. Either they are two different projects, or they scrapped the Free Radical one and tried to incorporate some of their design features into a new ONLINE version, or it was passed around like a $2 hooker from A - Z.

.......It's Lucas though, so the whoring is a definite possibility.

Fuck them all. At this point I would be happy if they made SWBF2.5 and gave us all the maps from 1 and 2 with full JEDI control on the 360 made game. While they are at it they can wash my fucking car to. Dick monkey cum chomping ass nuggets.

I don't blame Phoenix though for being mad at LA though, They constantly dick tease their fans especially when they say that they are going to announce a new game. Then it ends up being something shitty like the Force unleashed 2 or Monkey Island. Great :(
I've said my complaints long ago about LA.....they won't listen to their fans no matter what we do those fucking dick sucking assholes just don't like their fanbase it seems(LA).

I thnk the main thing is that the sw game slate appears full. No swbf regardless if swbf 3 and online were different.

EA is spending an assload on the MMO.

After the piss poor excuse of a sequel BF 2 was I had really hoped that they would put out the third one to make amends for no.2. At this point I dont expect anything and if it happens Ill be pleasantly surprised. All I know is that theres a lot of people at LA that need a good tonsil boxing, fucking window lickers. It seems pretty simple to me, put it out and make a shit load of money(maybe 2 shit loads) but that must be too simple.

The keyword here is Rumor. No official announcements were ever made hence the speculation that someone is lying in the industry to get our blood boiling. SWBF3 was looking good in the leaked trailer. As of now like it said. SWBF3 is up in the air, There is also an episode of Gametrailers TV where the president of Lucasarts fidgeted at the word of SWBF3. That is a hint there.

                            Honestly, I don't care anymore.

The last SWBF game came out on the PS2. Over four years ago. And really, truth be told, it wasn't that great. It could've been sooo much more than it was.

If Lucasfarts was that commited to us, the fans, we've already have SWBF3, and it would've rocked ballz.

Lucas has already made me hate one one the greatest things I've always loved.

Hell, the books waaaay are better than the shitty games they've given us. I wish I could go back in time and keep the prequels from ever being made.

Even the crappy Cartoon network Star Wars stories are better than the new movies, and give more character depth. At least Anakin is kind of a bad ass in those, than the whiney brat we see in the movies.

So Lucasfarts gives us "The force unleashed", where you spend more time as the Dark Lord's apprentice, killing more Imperials, than Rebel scum.

                            ???? Huh?

And the ending is even more shitty, you ally yourself with the rebs, and you die. Fight for the Emperor, and you end up killing Lord Vader, and end up in a suit (Like Vader), and you just end up his "plaything", that he despises.

                            Bah.

And so instead of an awesome Star Wars game like SWBF3, They focus on a new Star Wars Kiddy show for their cash cow now.

So like Sony, Lucasfarts can't see the forest, because all the trees are in the way.

Please, can I just have another Tie pilot game?:

[nomedia="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dfiAIZ9Xhkk"]YouTube- Star Wars TIE Fighter "Aftermath of Hoth" Mission 5 Briefing[/nomedia]

At least this game made you feel like you were fighting for the Empire. And it's considered one of the best games of all time.

                            What's next? Yoda's tales two?

                            And we still wait.

Des, those games are some of the first computer games I can remember playing. In my opinion, they are still the definition of premier combat flight simulators. X-Wing and Tie Fighter (especially Tie Fighter) is how you make a video game. Were that to be produced today, with the incredible advances in graphics and sound, plus the advent of online play, they would be some of the most beloved games out there. I wish I could find my old CDs of those games around here, if they even work anymore!
