    New York Bound

So I am headed to New York from 6/2 thru 6/7. I have never been there and am really looking forward to it. The wife is coming along as well. I know of the majority of the sites I want to hit such as the Statue of liberty etc.

Can anybody name a few places to find some good grub? I am still looking for a hotel and am trying to stay under 1000.00 bucks for the five days I am there, but would like to stay in or around times square. Any New Yorkers in the house?

Under $1000 to stay near times square for 5 days, that's gonna be a little rough. Since I live 20 mins away, never really had to look at hotel prices in the city, but I know they are usually a couple hundred if not more a night usually. At least for the major ones.

As for food, just about anywhere in NYC you can find really good food. Especially in mid town near Times Square.
For Italian though, you definitely will want to hit up little Italy. Not that large, only a few blocks now a days. There are the major restaurants on the cross of Grand and Mulberry I think. They usually have guys outside that try the hard sell to get you to come in, but their food is the best. Some of the smaller restaurants in between are gems themselves too.

Try priceline for hotels. It really works. The rule of thumb is you name a price 50% of the price they list in their own website. But times square, as you get a bit west is still a bit less than ideal in terms of neighborhood.

Lots of food options to try. Chinatown. Koreatown. Little Italy is okay, but you can find lots of good neighborhood Italian in most neighborhoods. It all depends On what you want. Ny is the best food place in the country.

You can check out nyinsidersguide for help. A friend runs the site and works hard on keeping up with suggestions.

Actually you would take the PATH. But only a hyatt that is pretty nice is in a decent part of JC. Better to stay in manhattan for a first time visit.

McSorley's for beer, great place with a TON of history. Two different beers there, light and dark. Always order beers in a number divisible by two and pay for them when you order them. And drink em quick, lol.

PS1 for art shows that feature local artists with great stuff to display. You'll be coming to NYC when the real good stuff is being put up.

Central Park is fun to just wander around in when you got nothing to do but stay away from it when it gets dark outside, you might get butt raped by a homeless crack head. Seriously at night the place is like Shadow Falls in Socom 2, lol.

And for good food, go to a place called Tony's Sushi and Grill, it's between 38th and 39th St and it's on 2nd Ave. Ask for the Spider Roll, best freaking Spider Roll on the planet. Period. I have never had one that can even come close to this. And you can order that and just have that one thing to yourself and be fine with enough food.

Also check out the Metropolitan Museum of Art, the paintings by Van Gogh are my favorite. "Wheat Field with Cypresses" is my absolute favorite painting of all time and they have it at that museum. Also check out the Knight's Armor and Weapons section, they got Knights armor and weapons of course, but they also have some Samurai shit their too (swords and armor) really really cool. It's actually the biggest collection of Samurai armor and weapons I have ever seen.

Eagle if you get the chance and I dont think its too far away by train go into philly and try that damn ginos and kings philly cheestakes we did that on our last day in that area a few years ago and that shit was good. Also I heard that some ppl i was with went to Lettermans building when they were shooting and some stuff was going on outside with flipping a car or something like that would be cool to see. Tell your wife your going to make a cardboard sign to walk around with that says some crazy shit on it too. And yes I know im not that helpful but I'm just used to winging shit when me and my wife are on vacation cause no matter how many plans you make a woman (or at least my wife) will always find a way to screw it up for you both and then want to cry when it goes all wrong even if you tell her its no big deal and it will be fine

I'm sure there's plenty more, and probably worse in the area. Let me know how the Knish is ;)

Two things. I love the knishes. I love the dogs.

But the best dogs are a little farther north at Grays Papaya. Super cheap and awesome to eat. Hit up citysearch for other ideas. Corner bistro on 12th has a very good (but over rated) burger. Shake shack near the flatiron is supposed to be the best. Go to the east village for Indian food. Avoid all chains. They cost 50% more and taste 50% worse.
