    PS3 problem.."No Signal"

Okay, after a wonderful storm here, my brilliant mother that was over at my house, didn't think that during a lightning storm, should actually UNPLUG my shit.

So now my PS3 powers up, all the lights read like they should, and turns off like it should. yellow light flashes for the hard drive like it's supposed to, put a disc in and it reads it. But there's no signal going from the machine to the TV. I've tried 2 different cables, on 2 different machines. I tried this first:

    [nomedia="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ehUgyCdc6II"]YouTube- ps3 no display fix[/nomedia]

But no luck. More like this:

So am I screwed, is it the hard drive?

I have never heard of this. Have you tried calling tech support?

After one of the recent updates I had no video signal on my TV and ended up switching HDMI inputs on my TV and got my picture back. Someone said it had something to do with the DCHP? handshake.....I don't know, but switching inputs and even switching back to the one that stopped working, brought my picture back.

      Are you using HDMI?

May/may not be related, but you can reset to default video output (composite) by holding down the power button for a few seconds when turning it on (you'll hear a couple beeps). Is it possible someone did that?

When you first hit the button to turn the PS3 on, push and hold for 5 seconds till you get a double beep. This will reset your PS3 and ask you which cable you want to use. So if you are going for the HDMI, have it on the HDMI channel. If you are going for the regular AV then have it on the proper channel.

Something similar happened to me a month or so ago when there was a power outage. The first time I turned on a dvd for the kids the sound was on but no picture. I did what Eagle suggested and it came up with a option for me to select the video output type upon restart. I'm using HDMI.

Did you lose any data with that Funky? I heard when switching to HDMI you can lose all your data through that reset.

I tried the reset technique, but stil like the second utube video I posted above^
No sound, and no picture, but all the lights are up and working on my PS3.

I'm going to try and use a multi av cable next with the regular yellow red and white connectors. If that doesn't work, I guess it's a send off to Sony, and I finally get my sparkles..lol..*Sighs* But at least that way I couldn't bitch that the damn updates bricked my crap. ;) The bad thing about is this. My microwave died, and my fridge died, so I don't have the money to fix my PS3..*laughs*..Go f'n figure...If it weren't for bad luck, I'd have no luck at all.

Okay..Check out this weirdness. I took an old PS1 connector I had in my game room, hooked it up thru my video 1 channel, turned my PS3 on, and she fired up, and reset the file system, as it said my hard drive files were corrupted. Okay, did that, and it came up to connect thru HDMI. I clicked that...Nothing. Everytime I set it to HDMI.."no signal". But at least the machine is working.

It could be that your HDMI is busted. In which case it still sucks, is there a chance it's the HDMI on you TV.

I'd say it's something wrong in my PS3. I've tried two different HDMI cables, on two different TV's. Gonna call Sony Tech support I guess. I'm just glad it still works.
I'd miss the machine, but losing all my saves would've been a bitter pill to swallow, as I'd just bought a new 4gb SD card to record my saves.

So now I'm certainly going to make back ups.

Tony. I didn't notice any files being lost. Maybe they were my old Prince of Persia files or last years FIFA
