    Attention Midwest DSA

For the past couple years a group of friends (and friends of friends) have going a fishing trip together. Well this year it is not happening. I am by NO WAY a real fisherman. But damn, I find these trips fun and relaxing.

The moring starts with die hard fisherman in the group heading out fishing at the crack of dawn, others like me get up around 8am-9am. The die hard fisherman usually come back around 9am and we all eat breakfast. Then we all hit the lake around 10am and fish till noon. Then we hit a bar for lunch. Then hit the lake again until about 3pm. The die hards may stay on the lake but others like me head back and play video games or take a nap. Around 6pm we all get together to eat dinner etc. Then we start to play cards (Texas Hold em usually...but often it is drinking games as well). This goes on all night and we wake up and do it again. If there is a Nudity joint nearby we usually make a trip. But I can tell you the women at strip joint near fishing resorts are usaully nasty (which can be the funnest ones) because they have to put up with drunk, stinking (fishing all day and not showed) men. Some areas have golf and other activities as well depending how secluded the area.

Now the WHOLE TIME. From Morning to Night we are drinking. Bloody Mary's and Screwdrivers in the morning...then Beer throughout the day and night (some will switch to mix drinks late in the day).

Now this may sound boring to non-fisherman. I though the same thing as I only fished a few times in my life before. But I find it sooo relaxing and a great way to unplug from real life. I don't care if I catch a single fish (but usually its not too hard on these lakes as they keep them stocked) it is just a great time.

With that said...my group is not going this year for a variety of reasons. So, I wanted to see if any DSA would be interested in a fishing trip late August or early September. (NOT the week of Labor Day). I don't have a boat and would just rent one. But if someone had a fishing boat that would be great as the rentals are usually just ok. Cost could be anywhere from $300 - $600 depending on where and how much you want to rough it.

I've only been to MN and WI as it is close to where I live in IL. Plus the fishing is pretty good and the days are not too hot up north. However, I would traveling anywhere.

I have a RL friend that would be in. A perfect number is 6-8 as this number helps ensure there is always someone who wants to do the same thing as you (fish, play cards, video games, etc). Plus 6-8 is perfect for the night time card games!

    So any interest?

I'm interested if we can get a crew together. I have a RL buddy in WI who might be interested if we go there. I'd personally like to rent a cabin and charter a boat on lake Michigan to go after some big fuckers. No boat, bait or any other BS to worry about just booze, boobs and oh yeah fish.

APAT...I am down for whatever. What do you think about maybe doing the charter for a day, then moving on to a fishing resort for several days. The whole fishing resort thing is a little more laid back (relaxing) as you are on your own schedule, instead of a specific chartered time. Plus I like the idea of having a cabin on a lake in the middle of nowhere with a campfire at night. We could do WI, no problem. Hayward WI is a good area.

Yentis...I am flexible with dates. The best weeks for me are August 21st, Sept 11th, or Sept 18th.

With APAT and RL friend, Yentis, Me and RL friend - That makes 5 and that works. A 2-3 more would be great.

Yeah. Good point ND. I think you have to go for Salmon in the spring anyways. Hayward is good for me. Laid back cabin drinking and smoking is fun. Anyone have a N64 and Goldeneye? God It was fun getting drunk and playing that game with friends.

If anyone further away wants to fly in they can fly to Minneapolis and roll with me up there(2.5hrs) if interested.

              Hayward WI it is then.

Yentis...I am cool with targeting the week of Sept 18th. Maybe have Saturday the 17th be the travel day and head home on Thursday. That was we have the weekend to recover.

APAT...check with your buddy if that works for him. Once we get 4 confirmed I will book the first cabin and two boats. As more confirm, we can add cabins.

For those that can get to Chicago...I can pick you up at O'Hare or Midway. It is out of my way a little (extra 3 hours) but not a big deal.

JAKE...If you drive over to the Quad Cities (Davneport, IA) we could meet up and ride up from there. Or you may want to ride up to Minneapolis with APAT. Probably about the same distance.

ND may remember this but I live in Kansas and I have family in Illinois and Wisconsin. Chicago is a 12 hour drive for me. Flying is much faster but then I wouldn't be able to bring my fishing gear.

The twin cities are about 8-9 hour drive for me. I have a super duty crew cab 4x4 Ford diesel though so I'd have room to get people on the way.

I have to see about getting time off from work though but this sounds like a good time. I'm interested in going.

                        Right on Yentis.

No word from my WI buddy yet. That's a ways away for him so I doubt if he'll go since he has 2 vacations planned in August and may not be able to take off more time. He said he'd get back to me ASAP.

Just a thought, but how about fishing on the Mississippi river? Seems more of a central point then Wisconsin.
