    G.I. Joe.

We all remember how utterly horrible the "official" movie was, so instead I give you this:

At least the costumes are better....

And at the end, ya gotta admit that would make one Helluva team against my beloved COBRA !!!!!!

Words alone cannot properly describe just how much I dispise the "new" Cobra Commander.

Nice Des....You do know they are making a new GI Joe movie right? Not sure if its an official sequel or one that stands on its own.

I guess one thing that bothers me the most that Hollywierd has this overwhelming desire to mess with crap which made the original IP so successful in the first place.

When people grew up with a franchise such as Star Wars, G.I. Joe, Transformers; or whatever geek thing we all hold dear, we want it to stay true to its roots.

We hold them dear, and really cherish those memories of a far more innocent time for ourselves. That's what makes them "special" for us. Hollywierd seems more determined than ever to forcibily remove that "magic" that made us originally love them.

I didn't need to find out that the most beloved villain of all time started out as a whiny self entitled douchebag. (Lord Vader)

Or that the fan favorite Fett wasn't a former badass policeman finally fed up with the system; but rather just a run of the mill clone.

For G.I. Joe, we loved just about everything about it back in the day. G.I. Joe was cool, and for me personally, Cobra was even cooler, just because bad guys rock.

Like Patton Oswald so clearly said in his "Kill George Lucas with a shovel" bit; we as a collective whole do not need to have every single detail about a character "explained" to us. We just love what we love. Sometimes the mystery allows our own imagination to run wild, and that what makes it special to us.

      It's the NOT knowing.

Like Bigfoot, Space Aliens, Nessie (The Lock Ness monster), and Atlantis.

We need and love that "unknowing".

Don't even get me started on those Transformer movie abominations.

Mark Cheng (the maker of that homemade video) said he wanted to harken back to the day when he was 8yrs. old, sitting on the floor, and playing with his G.I. Joes, Transfomers, and Star Wars action figure all together as a whole, just to "have fun".

And that folks, is truly what it's all about, and what Hollywood has truly forgotten.

I don't need to know what Count Dracula loved for breakfast as a human.
Just give me Christopher Lee, with his red bloodshot eyes, and that awesome red and black cape, and all IS well with me.

Just look at the Clint Eastwood western movies.

Do we really "need" to know what toilet tissue Batman really prefers, Charmin or Angelsoft ? Sometimes it is just best to let shit be. We don't need, nor want, to know every single little detail.

It really seems a shame to me that this guy in a simple $2500.00 fan film was able to stay more true to the roots of G.I. Joe, than a multi million dollar movie studio.

      'Nuff said.

      COBRAAAA !!!!!! :D

I lol'ed at that last part with the team...all they need is to transport the Autobots from Cybertron and Cobra is finished lol. Plus everyone gets the Transformers/GI Joe crossover they always wanted. ;)

While watching that it did seem like something I would come up with when I played with GI Joes as a kid. Explosions everywhere and then all of a sudden the Predator comes in, lol haha. I actually enjoyed that much more than GI Joe movie.

I hated that stupid ass G.I. Goe movie. The only tie-in with G.I. Joe was some of the character's names.

Yes, G.I. Joe was silly, but that's what made it cool.

            For example:

"You wouldn't leave two defenseless women to fend for themselves..?"

            "Yessssss !!!". LOL!!!!! :D

And Destro really needs to keep an eye on that playa Baroness:

And my beloved Commander lived on, to be in the Transformers:

            COBRAAAAA !!!

Des, I know the last GI Joe movie left much to be desired...but this looks pretty cool:

They fixed the costumes (especially for Cobra Commander) and the plot looks like it will be at least better than the first one.

For the next G.I. Joe film they better make all the Storm-Shadow and Snake-Eye fights more bad-ass! To be honest I was disappointed in that final fight just as much as I was when they didn't do a lesson for the day. :(

I WILL get one of those Cobra flags, buy a flagpole, and fly it proudly on my home.

I dunno, I'm just one of those wierdos that likes flags.
                  So far I have:

                  Two American flags

Three different style Confederate flags. (One from Yentis, thank ya dude.)

One traditional yellow "Don't tread on me" American revolution flag.

One German WW1 Imperial Emperor flag.

                  One German WW2 "battle" flag.

                  One Pirate flag.

                  One Led Zeppelin flag.

One Skull banner from my "household" in the SCA.

                  And a Nascar flag. ;)

Now if I could get a Zeon flag, and a Cobra flag, I'd be one happy dude !!! :D

Oh, and also add a Galactic Imperial gear flag like RaTix has on our home page.

Des, I know the last GI Joe movie left much to be desired...
                    I liked the movie.

                    It wasn't a bad movie.

What I so disliked about it was that they F'd up the characters back stories.

The Baroness is of eastern European descent, she was NEVER a Californian girl that was hooked up with a G.I. Joe.

Cobra Commander is a former used car dealer named "Fred", he was NEVER a former U.S. Soldier named of all things; "Rex".

                    [ame]http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cobra_Commander[/ame]

His Wiki backstory is FAR more interesting than that foul interpretation of that live action G.I Joe movie.

With such an interesting and engaging background story already established for Cobra and it's Commander, I'm totally amazed and underwhelmed that they dumbed it down so much for the movie. If you read that Cobra wiki I posted, you'll see what I mean. Never mind the direction the whole "Cobra-La" bullshit the animated series tried to take it in, even the Wiki says it defies the entire former established story line and background and totally contradicts it. I guess they were on drugs when they wrote that crap.

                    "Cobra-lalalalalala..."......My ass.

R.I.P. Chris Latta, and God bless your soul. You brought to life both Cobra Commander and Starscream. You will be remembered forever.

I hear you Des, but if there's one thing I've noticed movies like to do with original stories is to change them...which is stupid though. I agree that the new Baroness and Cobra Commander stories were a disappointment in the last movie. However, I'm glad they didn't screw up the Snake Eyes/Storm Shadow rivalry. Although they did mess up Scarlett's...considering she's supposed to be trained by Snake Eyes.

Like I said before, if you read the backstory of the Cobra "Baroness", you will also see an amazing and complex backstory for her character:

                          http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Baroness_(G.I._Joe)

Which is why I was so dissapointed in her character in the live action movie.

At least in the newest Star Trek movie, they did indeed make major storyline changes in the established characters, but they also went out of their way to say that this new story was based in an "alternate" universe, not the already well established universe that we all know and love.

It's kinda like how the "new" Batman talks like he's been gargling Drano, that so many have made fun of on Youtube, and even the TV show "The Big Bang Theory" (which I adore BTW, GO SHELDON, YOU ROCK !"....LOL !!!)

One thing I've noticed movies like to do with original stories is to change them...
Which is one thing I will NEVER wrap my head around or understand.

Popular and well beloved things are that for a reason.

They don't need, nor want, things to be changed. Folks love them because of the stories already well established. That's why they love them.

As the old saying goes: "If it ain't broke, don't fix it."

I also visit the gaming website "The Escapist", and just a few days ago they did an update to the website, which changed the entire layout of the site. They changed the background of the site to an almost blinding white, make your eyes bleed, background.

Almost everyone is saying in an already 20+ page forum post that they don't mind most of the changes, but the eye hurtful background has to go, with alot of posters saying that if they don't fix it someway, they'll stop going to the website. And I mean A LOT.

Any feedback whatsoever from the Mods there on this issue...?

                          Nope.

Not even one. It's truly Sony worthy in it's resolve to ignore what their members want from them.

If my forum members told me that they hated the white background of my site, especially 20+ pages, I'd change it. You want to keep your customers and fans happy. That's how you make your money. It's quite simply your very livelyhood, and how you pay your bills. Even if you as a creator decide to change your story, if you have literally millions of fans as Lucas does, you might want to reconsider making major changes to an I.P. you yourself created, if the majority of the fans of your stuff hate it (I.E. Jar Jar binks).

With my most beloved Star Wars ruined, Transformers ruined, G.I joe ruined,

I cannot help but fear "What's next...?"

Why does Hollywierd keep destroying those things that I loved ?.

(Just look at the new "Catwoman" for the next Batman movie.....Another character I've always loved.)

Could someone please pass me the Drano to gargle......

                          Please.....
