Was going to post this in the shoutbox but I realized it would spawn a thread eventually and we would probably flood the shoutbox with discussion. Apparently there is going to be an Episode 7 released in 2015 as well.

Disney Princess Leia hahaha. So does Brockheimer produce this? Who writes it? A Star Wars film by Tarantino? Aronofsky? Camron?
I don't know what to think other than this is a way for Disney to make money like they are Apple. Or maybe George is dying and instead of letting his kids sale it to the highest bidder he gets it off to Disney who now owns Star Wars AND Marvel. Is geekdom dead now?Comment

didn't see this coming!
"I felt a great disturbance in the Force, as if millions of voices suddenly cried out in terror and were suddenly silenced. I fear something terrible has happened"
Not sure what to think :/ My initial response is somewhat a sad realization that the Star Wars franchise (the old one) has lost its appeal to the new generations.
Although the clone wars (?) stuff was kinda entertaining, it surely just wasn't the star wars I've grown up with and know best from the old movies and countless games.
But that being said.. If Disney can somehow carry the franchise on in a descent manner, well they are welcome. I guess I just have to live with the fact that the name Star Wars in future generations ears will have a totally different meaning that what I will always associate with.
I surely don't expect the best, but just hope not for the worst.Comment

I personally would like to see something done with the Jedi Knight/Kyle Katarn. I think if done right that could make a good movie

The whole Thrawn series would be pretty cool. I wonder if they'll just go from scratch or use some of the existing post episode VI books.

Well there is 3 things Disney can do to keep all the EU star wars fans with movie 7.
1. Start off with the Dark Empire Comics which take place right after Return of the Jedi.
2. (This is my hope) Do a trilogy based off of Timothy Zahns Thrawn Trilogy
3. The jump to the Legacy Era and sorta start fresh.
I hope for one or two but that will require some recasting as the main characters are too old to play their parts. Number three will most likely be it though due to the fact that there are more jedi and Sith in the part of the time line and that is a selling point in this new age of Star Wars fans. Also they will not have to recast old main characters as most are dead in this time period."Thrawn: "Do you know the difference between an error and a mistake, Ensign?"
Colclazure: "No, sir."
Thrawn: "Anyone can make an error, Ensign. But that error doesn't become a mistake until you refuse to correct it." [points at Pietersen, Rukh kills him] "Dispose of it. The error, Ensign, has now been corrected. You may begin training a replacement."

I think they could adapt a bunch of stories into a movie. They have done a decent job in making good Marvel movies--something that Marvel had failed at more often than not. I also believe that Lucas had 12 movies sketched out originally that could still serve as the basis. I think this is a good thing.
Does this mean SWBF3 could become a reality? You're the best! Around! Nothings gonna ever keep you down!

As for LA, I have mixed feelings. They can explore the SW universe more the way the fans want, or give us more Clone Wars crap with less violence...time will tell.sigpic

I think only the iron man 1 and 2 and Thor were good. Avengers as well, but that was distributed by Disney and after the deal was all done.
Although to be fair, it was only recently that distribution rights went to Disney...that was part of the problem people had with the deal to begin with since Disney bought Marvel, a lot of the economics were already spoken for. But the Avengers and coming ironman and Thor movies should put concerns to rest. You're the best! Around! Nothings gonna ever keep you down!

@Zab: Those were flops, but Spider-Man 1-2, X-Men (first one), Iron Man, and the Hulk reboot (I think that was before Disney since it was around the same period as the first Iron Man) were all good. Hopefully Disney does SW some justice now. We all knew what direction LA was heading at...so I'm hoping for the best.sigpic

So does this mean we will see a end to the Clone Wars now that Disney owns it. I assume Disney will not pay for a show on Cartoon Network.
Also what about all the comic books the Dark Horse is putting out in the Star Wars name. Im sure they will want to move them to Marval now. Which means buy up all the Star Wars comics you can see as there will be no more Dark Horse reprints"Thrawn: "Do you know the difference between an error and a mistake, Ensign?"
