We took Alexander to Nashville today to the Vanderbilt Children's Hospital where he was given several tests including an EKG. The end result is that while he does have a tiny hole in his heart, because of the size and location of it, it has a 99% chance of closing up on its own. Even if for some reason it doesn't, it poses no threat to his health and well being. The very nice doctor there told us there is no chance of it causing him to have SIDS or other problems. Also, there is no need for surgery. He has a follow up appointment in 6 months to get it rechecked. We are very relieved and grateful. Bottom line: Wiggs is strong and healthy !. :D

I'm just amazed how gentle and strong he is. He's been poked, stabbed by so many needles, messed with, and had a lot of thermometers jammed up his hind end, and he rarely cries. I wasn't lying when I said Daz had to tell me in front of the nurse to back down, because I was getting very pissed off, because they were hurting him so much. Granted I did know it was for his own good, but they were making this sweet baby very miserable.

The Dr.'s at Vandy were amazing, and even the nurses there commented about how cute he is. Poor Daz broke down and cried after the Dr. told us the good news, she's been worried sick about his 'lil heart. I can now see why they say Vanderbilt is a world class medical facility. Everyone we had contact with was so beyond nice, professional, and most of all: kind.

Very glad that Alexander is doing good! It's always more worry when you have a baby that can't tell you what's ailing them (harder to diagnose problems), every little tear makes you wonder if there's anything severe going on (but usually there's not) in the beginning, but hey, you'll get the hang of it after a couple of months. You're not gonna be happy when he's teething though...

I'm just a very proud Daddy. He's just been soooo amazing thru all of this. He's had a very hard first week of life. Like I said, He's been poked, prodded, stabbed by so many needles, had his 'lil blood pressure checked, and has only God knows how many probes stuck up his hind end, and he's hardly cried at all during all of this. I'm so beyond proud of him. Even at Vandy when they were doing his heart sonogram, he just held his Mommy's finger, and looked at her like saying "What the Hell are they doing to me...?", but he didn't cry one bit.

He only cried during the EKG, when the Nurse was ripping off all the little tabs off of him, and I'm quite sure that had to hurt. I sure as Hell know that hurt me when they did it. He's been such a 'lil trooper, and we're so proud of him. Certainly this sweet, good natured baby has been pushed to his little limits.

But his doctor also checked him out today, and said that he's doing great, and also comented on just how freakin' cute he is. We'll post more pictures when we can.

I can't say enough on just how tired we all are, it's been a very taxing week on all of our nerves with worry. But he's okay, growing stronger by the day, and he's grown an inch since he's been born, and he's eating like a horse. He's been our dream come true, and I can't wait to get him online gaming with us. DSA Wiggles is doing great !.

Daddy and Mommy is so very proud of their 'lil Stormtrooper !.

          Des and Daz,

Congrats! I could not be happier for you both.

When I read your posts about being told to back down, I chuckled and had a tear in my mind. I know exactly what you felt. It is a very precious time full of wonder and awe! Cherish every moment because they don't last forever. All stages are awesome...but this stage is just something special.

...So live, that when thy summons comes to join
          The innumerable caravan, which moves
To that mysterious realm, where each shall take
His chamber in the silent halls of death,
Thou go not, like the quarry-slave at night,
Scourged to his dungeon, but, sustained and soothed
By an unfaltering trust, approach thy grave
Like one who wraps the drapery of his couch
About him, and lies down to pleasant dreams.

Thank you for that ND. As I'm quite sure everyone here knows that I'm certainly not "non-confrontational" in the least. Daz said to me : "Back down Cancer, back down" as she knows how we Cancers are extremely protective to those we care about or love. It's just in our natures. Mess with those that we care about, and our claws will indeed come out....And make them pay. I know it was for his own good, but I was damned tired by that time of seeing others making him suffer.

Cancer is a Water Sign and stands 4th in the Zodiac. Lovers of home and family, the Cancers or Crabs are sensitive, emotional, harmonious, dedicated yet fixed. Most Cancer-born value their home, loved ones and comforts more than anything else. To most Cancer-born, the most noble goal lies in sheltering and providing every comfort to their loved ones. Soothing and caring Cancers are also quick in offering help to others. On their part, they try and avoid/ duck conflicts, as much as possible. This very trait makes them quiet and controlled about their own feelings. The Crab will quickly withdraw and retreat to the safety of its shell than confront and come clean – whenever faced with a conflict or dilemma. Nonetheless, persistent determination is one of the greatest strengths of the strong Cancer-born. They may not appear to have great ambitions, on surface, yet their desires and goals are deep and profound. At work, the Cancerians make for good managers and organizers, and are often seen taking good care of their co-workers and maintaining friendly, family like relations with them. Most Cancers, however, do not like to be guided or bossed around. Few know that Cancers can actually be quite dominating – quietly so – in their work ways. In relationships, naturally, Cancer-born are loyal and dedicated to their mates, bestowing love and affection with verbal appreciation and material gifts, whenever possible. Most noteworthy is the fact that Cancer-born make excellent parents, and they love their children to the core. Often, the Crabs are proud of their children, and instruct and teach their children moral manners, expecting them to be as well-mannered in private as they are in public.
I agree with most of this except this:
On their part, they try and avoid/ duck conflicts, as much as possible.
If anyone dares to mess with me or mine, I will destroy you in a heartbeat, and not think twice about it. I wasn't given the nickname "Bonecrusher" when I was in the Army because I was too sensitive, and afraid to fight. I never, ever started a fight. I utterly despise bullies, And that's the God's honest truth. But start a fight with me....yeah, You'll quickly soon regret it.

And that's why I love the DSA, because we all believe the same. We protect our own, stand up for ourselves when needed, and God help you if you fight against us. And I will teach this ideal to my son. It's never right to be a bully, but it is indeed right to stand up for yourself, and fight for what you believe in, as long as you're not hurting others, hatefully.

Thank you, and God bless you all.

Thanks, Norm :) We're pretty excited to welcome our new little family member. He's an answered prayer. We certainly are "helicopter parents", always hovering around to make sure he's ok. Daddy Des can't wait until he's old enough to play with LEGO with him. He's going to be one spoiled little geek boy. :)

Well, his nursery is all decked out in Star Wars stuff, and he even has his own Stormtrooper outfit, a fullsize R2 replica filled with toys; and today one of Daz's co-workers gave him a 'lil "Snuffy" jumper, so he could have a Snuffy shirt like his Daddy.

He has Stormy and Vader pillows, and a 'lil stuffed storm trooper, and even a 'lil stuffed toy TIE Fighter (Which I adore ! ) :D , and a fullsize Vader cutout in his room, that used to be my Mancave. And lots of Star Wars decals covering his entire room, including a window Death Star Battle scene. Heck, he even has Star Wars curtains.

So in his room, he'll have an NES, a Super NES, A Sega Genesis, a Pikachu N64, a PS1, a PS2, and when I get a PS4, a PS3. Add to that an original Gameboy, and a Gameboy advanced. With all of those games combined, at at least he won't be bored.

And his Daddy has a Studio filled with more toys than you could possibly imagine.

Try to make him a geek ?. I have absolutely no idea what you're talking about...

Little man got his one month check up today. He's 9 pounds, 20 and 1/4 inches long. Everything looks good. The doctor listened to his heart twice and said he can barely hear his heart murmur now. We're hoping this means it's going away.

Strong in the Dark Side he will become ! :D

RaTix, I know that there are times when you feel frustated about everything and everyone. You work so hard, and try so hard for your Clan. But know this my dearest friend, your legacy continues.... And could anyone truly ask for more than that ?.

I know that for Daz and myself, we couldn't EVER ask to be in a greater group of people. And you RaTix, made this happen !. :D

So no matter what our combined future holds for us, our past was great. And as you all can see, our future is boundless.

                                So my Mother had the nerve to ask the other day;
"What if he doesn't like Star Wars ?."
What total blasphemy !. Is there anywhere any little boy or girl that doesn't love this saga ?. Even if the prequels sucked ?. In their own way they were still kinda cool. I loved running around in SWBF2 as a Super battle droid. Wrist rockets were indeed your friend against those pesky jumpy clones. And the Tri Fighter was my go to in those maps. And the Geonosian fighters on the ground maps.

Star Wars has always been special for us. I met my dear wife years ago in the old Star Wars chat room that they had. I certainly wouldn't have the wonderful wife I have, nor the wonderful son we have now, if not for Star Wars. It was one of the only things that my Father finally understood just why I was a Sci-Fi geek. He went to the original movie back in '77 with me, my Mother, and my Aunt, and he told me : "Okay, I get it now".

He was always UBER macho, and just couldn't understand how he had a son that loved comic books, Toys, Sci-fi, and doing artwork, instead of being a sports fanatic. It just didn't seem manly enough for him. But when he saw the original Star Wars in the theater, he finally understood why I liked this kinda stuff, and it was pretty damned "cool".

If you've ever watched "That 70's show, yeah, my Dad was Red. TOTALLY. For one brief moment, He understood why I loved what I loved, and I'm so glad we don't have that stigmatism now of being "nerds, geeks, feebs, and dorks.", that live in their parents' basements, and can't get girlfriends, and are "forever alone" lonely neckbeards.

Now hot girls dress like our heroes, and going to Cons is an awesome event, and not something we kept to ourselves, to avoid redicule. Being a Geek is so awesome today, and we can't wait to share that with our son.

It was my love of Star Wars that brought me here, due those wonderful Star Wars games, and allowed the wonderful opportunity to meet ya'll, and We certainly love you all. You all have affected our lives for the better. Our Chats over the Mic has become a staple for Daz and myself, over the PS3 and X-Box one. We all are better people, by having the chance to get to know y'all over the years. Thank you RaTix. !

On how just the times have changed !, and in just an awesome way. And I can't wait to share that with my son. We all three love you guys so much !. We thank you all for being our friends ! LONG LIVE THE EMPIRE !,
