    E3 2006

Well it's that time of year again. I started this topic last year for E3 2005, back when the big news was XBox 360, PS3 and SWBF2. This year there's sort of a lull, I guess. Some good parts are:

I guess I'll start with LuacasArts. We've all been expecting it and hoping for it, but there will be no SWBF3 announced at E3. This also means no SWBF3 at all. LA is instead concentrating in the following games: "Empire at War: Forces of Corruption", "Indian Jones" (which will feature an interesting engine where everything is simulated rather than scripted), and a new SW Galaxies.

Nintendo Wii (Pronounced we) formerly known as Revolution was announced, as was it's interesting controller where for games like Zelda you can wave it as you would a sword and control it with the corresponding buttons. Sounds interesting and risky. Super Mario: Galaxy is announced as "the game" for it as well as the backwards capability all the way back to NES.

Still waiting on EA Sports football, Hockey and Basketball games and ESPN's Hockey and Basketball games. However EA's NCAA Football supposedly expands on last year's "Race for the Heisman", but giving you more control of your player's off field activities.

Microsoft announced that they plan to unite their consoul, computer and cell phone users under one banner, and that is priority number 1.

I haven't looked at anything on PS3 yet, aside from one gamespot review which called their press conference unorganized (because you can tell a lot about their system from a press conference )
"You gotta have fun. Regardless of how you look at it, we're playing a game. It's a business, it's our job, but I don't think you can do well unless you're having fun." - Derek Jeter

Yea I read abit how the audience was unimpressed by sony at E3 by trying to copy off there competitors moves.
People did love Nintendo's new gig though alot and alot of people were there for that one.Good thing about Wii you can play old Nes,snes or n64,But for me i've been able to play"All" those games for years thanks to emulation.I wonder if the emulation will impair that service which allows you to play old nes, snes and n64 games on the wii.
        PS3:
        * Comes out Nov 17 2006 for $499 for 20GB hard drive and $599 for a 60 GB hard drive. (won’t be getting one day one at that price)
        * Will have a always on Online service. (just like Xbox 360)
        * Will communicate with the PSP
        * Blue Ray DVD player built in (the most orginal idea in the box)
        * Will come in standard black at launch
        * Instead of waiting for a year to see how well the new Nintendo Wii motion sensing controller does they decided to steal that idea right away and add it to their standard 12 year old controller. Well, not really, it just has some of the Wii features.

        Nintendo Wii:
        * Will come with Opera Web Browser installed.
        * Speaker in controller confirmed (sound of swords and guns from the controller)
        * Zelda to come out for Wii and Gamecube this year.
        * Comes out Q4 2006
        * 27 games at launch (Super Mario, Zelda, Metroid, Dragon Quest, etc.)
        * 16 million DSs sold since launch, “millions more” than PSPs sold.
        * Can power up and load virtual console games almost as fast as a telephone
        * Download NES, SNES, N64, Gamecube, Sega, TurboGraphics games.

what i have found is a future project ofr pandemic it is called pandemics six game plan. nad gues what boys!!! it states in there! that a chanvce of a swbf3 if high!

          GDC 06: Pandemic's Six-Game Plan
What is Pandemic up to outside of FSW: Ten Hammers?
          by Douglass C. Perry
March 23, 2006 - In the same meeting room with the collective brains of the well-known Canadian RPG maker, BioWare, Pandemic Director of Production Greg Borrud spoke to IGN about making open design games like Mercenaries and the inevitable sequel to 2005's number one selling unique IP.

"Mercenaries sold well enough to warrant a second try," said Borrud. "It was the number one selling new intellectual property in 2005. It performed best on PS2, but still sold well on Xbox." When asked whether the company was working in partnership with publisher LucasArts on the potential project, Borrud declined a direct answer. "We haven't officially announced such a game," he said, smiling.

Mercenaries was one of the more surprising games of last year.

IGN has learned from sources outside the company that the sequel to Mercenaries is in the works, though a firm contract with a publisher hasn't been worked out yet. Of course, it's entirely possible that Mercenaries 2 will appear at E3 without a publisher (and if that's the case, it will certainly leave with one), though Borrud declined to comment directly on the yet-to-be-announced game.

But he was willing to talk about open-design style games like Mercenaries. "It's more economical to make big, open worlds," he explained. "Creating living, breathing worlds makes a lot of sense. You develop these fantastic environments and, as opposed to a linear game where you only see the level once, you'll see it multiple times."

Borrud also told IGN that Pandemic is currently working on six games, split between current- and next-generation systems. "Our heads are down and we're busy building tech engines to be used for the next four to five years. We're working on a balance of original and licensed games," he explained.

The chances of seeing another Battlefront are pretty high.

The only officially announced game Pandemic has been confirmed to be working on is Full Spectrum Warrior: Ten Hammers, due for release next week on Xbox, PS2, and PC. If Mercenaries 2 is in the hopper, that's a second title, and given its enormous success with Star Wars Battlefront 1 and 2, it's likely that's a third. In previous meetings with LucasArts, the publisher also declined to comment on any plans for a sequel to Mercenaries. Borrud wouldn't mention any titles. "At least one of our games will appear at E3 this year," he said.

Look for more Pandemic news in the near future.
