Free Radical To Develop Star Wars Battlefront III

As everyone has been speculating there is now more proof that Free Radical will be developing Star Wars Battlefront III, here is a small snippet from mygen.com:

The next instalment in the massively successful Star Wars: Battlefront series is being developed by the UK-based developer Free Radical, CVG can exclusively reveal.

Our investigative reporters have learned that this is the fruit of the Nottingham-based studio's recently announced partnership with LucasArts.

No further details were offered from our sources, but after the massive success of the first two Battlefront games, we can't wait to see what Free Radical - with its years of experience working on shooters like TimeSplitters and GoldenEye - will do with the license.

Lets just hope they take their time, and do it right this time around. Start saving money for that new PS3 kiddies, It'll be here before you know it.

The timesplitter series which they developed are widely believed to be the best shooter series developed for consoles out there. I only hope that they keep it third person instead of FPS as timesplitters is. My guess is that unless there is a special box set, special edition DVD release or something, the developers won't be as pressed to get the game out by a certain date. All the other projects are still pretty far out, so that could be a good thing.

Also, the links that Drizzle provided confirmed that it will be developed for sure in the XBox 360. No word yet on PS3. This could have an impact on the next gaming console I choose to buy. I have held out on buying the 360 in order to wait and see of the PS3 is all that it is cracked up to be. I will buy the PS3 if it appears that it is.

I’d have to say the same for me Zabka. I am waiting for the PS3 to finally hit the shelves and see what kind of reviews it receives before I purchase one. Hopefully BFIII is developed for PS3 or I might lean toward the Xbox 360. I’m not too fond of the 360 but would consider purchasing if BFIII is developed for it alone. Free Radical should keep the choice between first and third person though I like third person better.

From what I've heard Free Radical is working on finishing the game they are currently working on beofre they get started into the new Battlefront game. Also it will be released on the 360 first, but should be released on the PS3 after a bit.

If the end goal is to make money, I would say confidence is extremely high that it will show up for both systems eventually as most of the most popular titles often do. That said, I want to here rave reviews about the PS3 or the 360 before I drop some serious jack and since we know the PS3 and 360 probably won't be able to interoperate online together, DSA will need to coordinate on which next-gen system it goes with otherwise you have half the guys buying the 360 and half with the PS3.

That would kinda suck in my opinion. It was a no-brainer for BF1 to BF2 switch because we all had the PS2 but this next step is going to require some additional thought.

i know for a fact that if i end up getting xbox 360 i will not have online, so if i even get a next gen and want to play online games then i will most likely get ps3

..tell ya what Christ...my company ownes QVC so we get a really nice discount...if it comes to that I will buy you one of those X-Box live passes...just so I can keep saber dueling with ya! I just bought a hundred of them using the corp account for our company party in January! I just pray it doesn't come to that, cuz I really hate microsoft. They owe my bro in law about 30 million, but that is chump change to them and fighting them in court would destroy my bros business!

Somethings about free radical and there timesplitters series.They were the same people behind the popular Goldeneye game for the N64.Which had awesome deathmatch battles and what not.

In timespiltters 1,2 and 3 you can create your own maps and the online is much better since I believe they are sponsored by EA for online service I believe.The buddylist is good and you can message your buddylist

Doesn't that make you think?Wow creating your own trooper or faction.Creating your own battlefront maps :D,Doing alot of innovative stuff.

Star Wars Battlefront should be about massive battles not battles of 12vs12 where cp tag erupts.I have faith in Free Radical on this one

Problem is that I don't think i'll be getting a PS3 or an XBOX 360 for a long time.

So there is going to be a BFIII, if they put time and effort into it then the outcome should be a great game. I am going for the PS3 on this one, I have been with Sony from the start I am just waiting for a call now from gamestop when they are accepting preorders.

In case some of you don't know there are going to be two versions of the system. One will cost $499 and the other $599 so I hope to see us going for the PS3 instead of the 360.

yeah but i heard you dont get a lot of the stuff included in the 600 dollar version, and that if your willing to dish out 500 you might as well go the whole 600 price
