    PS2 repair

My PS2 has been messin up lately with not allowing me to play space with this game and now freezing up on me during FIFA, I know it is not scratches because i take great care with my discs and i also used my friends scratch remover on them as well and these problems still persist. If anyone knows a common store that can possible repair my PS2 or if you think it would be more economically beneficial to just by a new PS2 which are 129.99 as of right now (new silver edition being released very soon for same price). Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

I'm sure you take good care of the disks, but if the ps2 is bumped while in play, the disks can get messed up. I'd suggest playing your disk in someone elses ps2 or borrowing someone else's disk and trying it in yours. You're welcome to bring your disk over to my place if you can get a ride. What ever works.

Trouble shoot before assuming you need to drop another $129.

I have heard of the laser needing realignment. Might not be the problem, but then again...I will try and find the post and paste it here. I think its a fairly simple process to fix it.
Also, I was in my local pawn shop the other day and noticed they had several of ps2 for like $50.00 or so, since I plan on getting a ps3, there is no way i would drop over 100.00 on a ps2 this close to release date.
What kind of scratch remover was it? was it a disk dr? I have one and was scared to use it at first thinking it might screw up my game, but my swbf2 was so bad i tried it, and actually used it several times and my game now plays like a brand new game. (my football game was playing bad as well and didnt appear to have any scratches at all, used the disk dr. and now plays just fine)

first im taking my game to a friends house to and trying it out to figure out if its my game or ps2 that is the problem, and my friend had disk doctor, it looked a bit better but could still somewhat see the scratches, i got my bday comin up anyways so i would really only end up payin little money on the ps2, but im hopin its just my game tahts the problem

Disk Doctor makes the dvd look terrible, but it works magic. It really blows my mind. You can still see the scratches plus additional ones, but they play great. I have not tried ps2 games, but it works wonders with movies.

lately I have been having trouble loading BF2 maps, namely mos eisley for assault and utapau on conquest. Although only online, it will get stuck on the last loading sphere (those things at the bottom next to where it says loading) and then I will get "Connection to host lost" although i think it is my game/ps2. I try restarting routers and ps2 but no luck with it. Usually I have to wait for the next map to start.

Mines been freezing a lot lately wehn I am looking through the various servers looking for a game. I'm sure it's either my copy of BF2 or chain smoking playing BF2 has caught up with the lens inside my PS2.

Its probably a bug in the game.Personally I experience the freezing bug to often and sometimes it happens way to often especially in scrimmages which is inconvient to me.

When I am scrolling down in the lobby trying to find servers, it does freeze on me as well. I thnk it is a bug.

I used to freeze up loading coruscant, and the death star online. I think its the game. If it takes a long time to load (for one reason or the other) you lose connection to host. I had the same problem when I first started playing the cpu version online. I could play each level, it just took a long time to load, each level, therefore when I tried connecting online, I would always lose connection to host. (I have sinced corrected that problem) The only thing I have done with the PS2 game is run it through the Disk Dr. yeah it doen't look pretty, but it plays like a brand new game. I have used my Disk Dr. on it about 4-5 time now (if my 6 year old grabs the game 1 more time I'm gonna whip that ass) but its still working just fine.

If its a scratch then you may want to try some soap and water to clean it at least. then mabye use some kind of corase solution that can buff out the scratches.
heres what a disk loks like

                        -----------plastic layer on top----------
                        -----------Data is stored here----------
                        -----------2nd plastic layer-------------

u see its like a pancake. Now the layer that you can see the shiny side tht gets all rainbowy is where you don't want scrathes. scrathes bend the lasers light waves so that it cant read the data properly. Sooooo filing down the plastic with SPECIALIZED(don't go mixing like sand and water and putting it on ur disk!!) Disk fixing solution. This will either A.fill in he scratch with a clear liquid, or B. file down the plastic so the laser dosn't bouce so much and makes it eaier to read.

                          .

This must be a general bug for the game Zabka.I tend to get frustrated because when im looking for a packed room it tends to freeze on me.Good thing for saving your favorite rooms so you can get there quicker.

Also beware going to leaderboards because it freezes if you try going there.Times I have tried logging onto gamespy the game would freeze on me and I would have to open the try and close it.The game will manually start againb, but it will say"Connection to gamespy lost".

Hopefully when the sequel eventually arrives the problems will dissappear.

Well its my disc that is the problem, FIFA did not work on my friend's PS2 so I will be picking up a new game since the Disc Dr. did not work on it. I dont know if i should buy a new BF2 yet cuz my BF2 looks like it has a lot of little scratches on it but I dont know if that problem with the maps is my disc or not, but i'll end up picking up a Disc Dr. this weekend and trying it out. Are those sold at Best Buy, Circuit City, Game Stop, EB Games or FYE since it took the place of Media Play(not sure if that is a national store).

disk doctor is expensive, but you get what you pay for.
