Well, just in case you didn't know, During the Rose Parade, announcer Bob Eubanks stepped on his dick with Golf shoes on, when he announced during the arrival of the 501'st. Stormtrooper legion, that we were all a bunch of "Nerds and Geeks, who needed to "get a job" :x .

After this wonderful announcement, which even the other female announcer took offense too, was officially reprimanded by both Rose parade officials, and Lucasfilm.

Not wise to bash Star Wars fans, especially after they were all personally sponsored by George Lucas, who paid for their airline tickets, food and lodging, and was the grand marshall of the parade. The asshole has since apologized, and prompted this response by LFL:

In the re-brodcast of the parade on the travel channel, and HGTV, the offensive comments were edited out. But you can imagine the shock and dismay of those great guys and girls, that made that long trip, practiced that hard, and do the "death march" in the parade, when watching the tape of them being there by Steve Sansweet from LFL, and hearing that nice 'lil jewel of a comment.

This was posted by Tambo, a fellow in my garrison(the guy in the top picture carrying the American flag):

The comment he made really made me and my fellow marchers feel like bantha shit. We were all gathered around a big screen TV after the parade in armor (battle scorn) when he made his stupid comment and a collective sound of dismay from all of us was heard......way to bring us all down....What a Jerk. LFL was not happy and Steve made a point to cheer us all up that night.
That do-nothing shithead can kiss my ass with his "oh so cool" comments about us being geeks and nerds. I don't care about him in the slightest.

Watch the kids at the end of this 'lil parade clip:

Our 2006 Halloween parade theme was The Empire Strikes back, and the iconic duel between Darth Vader and Luke Skywalker. Watch members of the 501st and Rebel...

Those are whom I care about. The sweet way their faces light up at seeing a trooper, makes it, and all the snide comments, wothwhile.

Yep, he was slammed by emails from members of the 501st.

And we recieved this nice 'lil "cut and paste" replies from his publicist:

      Dear Dennis-

Just a note to say how deeply sorry I am if I offended anyone in your group. I calculate that we spent approximately ten minutes on the Star Wars presentation and were most complimentary of the entire Star Wars project and the Grand Marshal, George Lucas. Unfortunately, the information I received did not explain the fact that most of your group are professionals and that your major focus is charity work. There is no doubt that I have a ‘tongue in cheek” sense of humor, but I sincerely want to stress that in no way did I intend to offend you or any member of your group.

Please accept my heartfelt apology and I commend you on the fine work you do in the name of your group.

      Sincerely,

      Bob Eubanks

He should know what the hell he is talking about before bashing people who were out there to honor the grand marshall and how his works had reached beyond simple movies. Why not just call every high school marching band that paraded a bunch of geeks too if he is going to go with preconceived stereotypes without knowing anything.
You're the best! Around! Nothings gonna ever keep you down!

George Lucas personally invited us, the 501st. to be his personal escort in the Rose Parade. He thought it would be a wonderful way to show us off before the world for for all of our charity work, and our work with children, and the entire human community.

So these people, some that came from all over the world, practiced hard, sacrificed their time and effort, finally get through the march from Hell, coming before the grandstand, here it is, their chance to shine before the entire world..........!!!!!!

And dickhead has to ruin it with a snide comment.

          ASSHOLE!!!! :x

The 501st Legion contributes time and money to numerous charities including Ronald McDonald House, Toys-for-Tots, Make-a-Wish, Candle Lighters Fund, and the Jimmy Fund. Each garrison has also visited countless hospitals, daycare centers, schools and community centers to entertain children throughout the U.S. and around the world.

In addition to their charity work, 501st members have extremely varied and important careers. "We have our share of IT specialists, software engineers and librarians," 501st.com webmaster and Carolina Garrison member Dean Plantamura says. "But we are also lawyers, fashion models, ex-rollerderby stars, police officers, professional divers, pyro-technicians, butchers, teachers, air traffic controllers, nurses, social workers, security officers, musicians, accountants, graphic designers, illustrators, postal workers, helicopter pilots, pediatricians, dentists, nuclear plant operators, bankers, meteorologists, crime scene investigators, firefighters, DJs, paramedics, airplane mechanics, ex-pro wrestlers, actors, video game designers, stay-at-home moms, small business owners, chimney sweeps, archeologists, as well as many members who are currently serving in the Armed Forces."

Yep, justa bunch of nerds and geeks!

Yep, Bob, you're SOOOOOOOOOOO cool now, aren't ya? 8)

Here's some awesome footage of those "geeks and nerds", Enjoy:

People invite us to these things, we don't beg them to be there.

Like my Lady said "Yeah, it's kinda geeky, but we do sooo much good."

For an all too brief moment we bring the magic of Star Wars to "real life", and the Empire, to the public, and we're shown so much love and support from our respective communities.

          Bob Eubanks, please, please.....

          Kiss my ass.

Man that sucks Des. I have much respect for the 501st and have thought about joining on more than one occassion. You guys always do a lot and the first time I was exposed to your group was for something they did here in Greensboro, NC.
