    beetis, beetis, die-a-beetis

If you've ever watched The Price is Right, you've probably seen the Liberty Medical commercials. These videos make fun of Wilford Brimley's pronunciation of the word "diabetes." The first time my friend showed me them, I was laughing for like the whole day, take a look:

Not in a hundred years did Wilfred Brimley believe that this remix would be created

    Whats wrong with his pronunciation?

    From Dictionary.com
    di·a·be·tes /ˌdaɪəˈbitɪs, -tiz/ Pronunciation Key - Show Spelled Pronunciation[dahy-uh-bee-tis, -teez]

And its not real funny when you know someone like my 27 year old little brother who has had it since he was 4 and is now trying to get on disability cause he is going blind. I know you meant no offense. It was a good mix, I just didn't find anything real funny about it. I guess my perspective is a bit tainted though.

Has he tried Byetta? It helps with the HbA1c levels while also engendering weight loss. Normally, it is used for people before they are on insulin, but there are doctors who fiddle around with it on insulin.

Also--a company call Mannkind has an inhalable insulin that is far superior so far to current therapies. It is in clinical trials now. It could be worth a shot to see if he can get into a trial.

Although I am guessing at this point, he isn't insulin resistant, more that his beta cells aren't producing. Byetta is believed to help restore beta cell function. The drug is from a company called Amylin and marketed by Lily.
You're the best! Around! Nothings gonna ever keep you down!

After my divorce, I gained waaaay tooo much weight and developed heart complications because of it, which landed me in the ICU unit of the local hospital, and damn near killed me twice.

My Doctor called in a heart specialist from Knoxville who told me I was this close to diabetes! and it scared the living Hell out of me.

        I was 265lbs. and now just 155lbs.

It's NOT something that you play around with.

I learned my lesson quickly on how to eat right. Once you get it, it doesn't go "away" once you lose weight. 8O

It stays with you the rest of your life. I came way too close to getting it, and now have to watch my blood sugar levels. I didn't develop it, but now I get dizzy as Hell if I don't eat right, and it does effect my heart, which can cause stroke, or heart attack. Which can kill you, or cause permanent brain damage.

I now have cronic heart arytmithia, which can can cause permanent brain damage or a stroke. Which can either cause me to have heart failure, or a stroke that can leave me disabled or point blank dead from heart failure.

It does run in families. One of my Aunts has a pace maker, the other is on nitrol. My mother has chronic heart pain all the time. I didn't know this at the time.

Every day I have to wake up and wonder if this day is going to be my last one on this earth.

        Welcome to my world.

And no, It's not fun. Not fun at all.

        Des.

No, I didn't mean any offence towards anyone that has or knows someone that has diabetes. I just thought the videos were funny. If my post becomes a problem, you guys can delete it.

Again, Sorry if I offended anyone,

No offense at all steven. I like the editing that was done on the vid. It was pretty good. My opinion is tainted cause I do know several people with diabetes. I would be more offended if you would have deleted it, if that makes since.? I hijacked your post to let people know of what my brother is going thorough, and if there are any diabetics out there, I know its hard as hell, but you must take care of yourself. Like I said my brother just turned 27 and has had several eyes surgeries, but is still unable to see.

Steven its all good, I'm sorry I stole your post lol. Please don't let me deter you from posting. You are my brother as well and I know no offense was intended. I have always heard it pronounced (dahy-uh-bee-teez) so it does sound weird. And the editing made it funny. Like I said I hijacked your post to let people know of a serious issue, and I am sorry for that lol.
