Holy crap... I wish we'd had a kickass theme like that... Ours was like the Elements or something gay. I'd like to see that whole show... Wonder what their first movement was?

I got the tetris reference and caught two mario brothers references. But the one right after tetris, I wasn't clear about.

Might have been more clear if it was filmed from the other side of the field as the last castle/flag thing took me a few seconds to recognize.

Pretty cool stuff. I think college bands do some really creative stuff.

Linking the facts that they are one of the best schools in the country, in one of the best areas of the country, with some really good sports programs, and with really low tuition for state residents is pretty astounding. Of all the nationally renowned state schools out there, Berkeley has got to be the best combination of everything out there. Ann Arbor, Charlottesville, Austin, and Chapel Hill--none of them have the same combination. UCLA could make a similar claim, I suppose. Better looking people, but I prefer No Cal over LA.

The movement with the four triangles is link or zelda. Something like that.

I'm not sure what they're doing from 1:34 to 2:11 but at 2:12 to 3:10 they are playing Pokemon songs. That's something you wouldn't expect at a football game. LOL.

College marching bands do have competitions, right?

Wouldn't know, to be honest. I think they do. But the productions they put on for big rivalry games actually get a lot of attention from the fans instead of simply being a time to take a piss and grab a beer. So from a performing standpoint, they can be pretty huge.

It's for the indoor sports: Basketball and Hockey that I find that bands make a meaningful difference in atmosphere. When I was in college, we had a top 10 hockey program, and the band was instrumental (no pun intended) in coordinating completely scathing insults at opposing teams players.

But if they did have competitions, I would expect their show to be at least as long as a high school's would be... and that's about nine to ten minutes. At big football games, we usually play either our first and second movement or second and third. So I'm just curious as to what their other movement is... which I can't find on YouTube...

You know, I knew in the back of my mind that it was Mortal Kombat after Tetris.
I just wasn't sure because I've heard that song used more for my little sisters cheerleading dances than I have for Mortal Kombat.

I think this is their entire show from 2002 where they came in first place.

This is the last minute of my favorite back in 1995 of The Planets.

Not college competition, but it is a major competition. DCI if anyone is interested.
