Dad shoots son after refusing to look at his Xbox 360

In Monroe County, Pennsylvania, police say that it was an argument over an Xbox 360 console that led to a son asking his father to shoot him, and he complied.

The 17-year-old boy reportedly wanted his father, James Stanley Niedosik, 60, to look at his Xbox 360 Friday night.

However, when the father didn’t want to, an argument ensued. During the dispute, the boy handed his father a rifle and told him to shoot him, and he did.

The boy suffered from a .22 caliber bullet lodged in his skull behind his ear and was treated at Lehigh Valley Hospital-Cedar Crest.

Niedosik was arrested and sent to Monroe County Prison on $250,000 bail. He is now charged with aggravated assault, simple assault, reckless endangerment, and endangering the welfare of a child.

“One’s in jail, one’s in the hospital,” Jeanie Niedosik, James’ ex-wife and the boy’s mother told The Morning Call. “I won’t know exactly what happened until I talk to [my son]. He’s incoherent yet; they have him heavily sedated.”

While she was not present at the shooting, she believes the incident was an accident.

“He did the shooting, but it was an accidental thing that took place,” she said.

I have to say though, some of the comments on this from the forums I got it from were quite amusing:

    "Was the Xbox ok?"

"Wait, he got a headshot but the ****er lived! HAX!"

in response to above post "He had overshields, duh"

Good thing it happened in the North, no telling what would have happened if it were some of my southern colleagues. For one thing I doubt it would have been a .22 rifle :o

Its not big at all vs. something like you use to go deer hunting with like a .243 The .22 bullet can come from a pistol or in this case, a rifle. Manly used for small game, but I have seen someone take down a deer with a .22 Hornet with a head shot. If it were just a regular .22 bullet, it can kill, but you have a much better chance at survival. If I'm not mistaken, they can all be fired from the same, .22 caliber rifle, the difference is the ammo, and what it is made for.

.22 is not that bigger then a BB, but can definitely kill you. Used mostly for rabbit I think. I never heard of anyone Deer Hunting with one, usually use a 12 gauge w/slug for that.

Yeah the 12 gauges are good for heavy woods hunting, but to make the longer shots you will need something with a heavy slug like the .243, .270, 30-06, or something like that. At least those are the ones I'm most familiar with. Use the shotguns for squirrels, ducks, and snakes and such lol.

Yeah I shot my first deer on Thanksgiving Day when I was 8 years old. It was like a 70-80 yard shot no big deal, but I was in the deer blind with my grandmother, and I'm glad I have that memory with her :D

My first year hunting I was using a 30-30 lever action. There was a herd in front of my dear stand and as soon as the sun was up I shot three of them. Then another one came around later to see WTF happend and I capped that one in the heart. Perfict shot, dropped almost instantly. I haven't been hunting again yet. That year will always remain The MUNCHER DEER MASSICRE.
We are all gonna have to live in da woods some day, cause the government is gonna take our guns away.
