well that really sucks. It would have been a great game for the PS3.Hi everyone,
Unfortunately, I don't have good news.
THQ has made the decision to cancel the PS3 version of Frontlines.
We looked at a number of ways to keep this version of the game alive but in the end, we just couldn't make it happen.
The problems with developing for the PS3 that Joe Halper and Frank Delise gave in GameSpot Australia interviews recently are the reasons for this.
I'm sorry I couldn't give you an update until now but until the final decision and announcement was made by THQ, there was nothing official to say. We did try and find a way to work things out but, at least for this version of Frontlines, it wasn't possible. -
I would have been interested in seeing how the servers would have worked with PS3s since this game is expected to allow non P2P hosting and user controlled dedicated servers.You're the best! Around! Nothings gonna ever keep you down!

Yeah I just read that GTA4's delays were finally confirmed to be caused by having to develop it for the PS3. I'm not knocking the PS3, but I wonder with so many small studios and tightening reigns on budgets if we'll see more game makers choose one format over another.
Some of the other options are to cut back on the number of games developed, push sequels more (less design time), or make more generic games that all look and play the same.Comment

there is no way that GTA would become an Xbox exclusive, that would just be absolutely rediculous and would cause a huge uproar in the gaming community. After all it started on the playstation.

The responsibility is to the shareholders who invest in the companies, not the gamers who bought their prior games. In order for them to fulfill their duties, -they need to make games that keep gamers happy...but as we have all seen, that only goes so far.

Man the old overhead version was damn fun for it's time. There's something about being the bad guy that makes a game more fun.
Sony needs to come out with some killer first and second party apps. Especially if the third parties are going to have a difficult time.
