    COD4 tips

Last night I unlocked the 5-star general rank (Commander), and literally within two hours, I've almost unlocked all the elite challenges.

What are the best tips you could give fellow players?.

    I basically only have three.

    #1. STAY BACK!!!!!!

I can't tell you how many times I've taken first place in points and kills, just because I had the common sense to find a hole and hold.

If you continue to just run out there aggressively, you're going to get pwned, and pwned again. Let the enemy come to you. That way you have the firing advantage. Let the enemy run out in front of your machinegun/claymore, not the other way around. What good is it if you goit the most kills, and also had the highest death ratio?. Let the other bastard die for his team. you live for yours. Get those perks, and lead your team to victory!

    #2. COMMUNICATE!!!!

If you know where the enemy is coming from, or see a teammate about to run out in front of where you know a sniper is, let them know, or an enemy sneaking around a corner!!! Plant those claymores, and wait for them to die on it, or blow them up, then drill them as they come around that corner.

    #3. COVER YOUR TEAMATES!!!!!

I cannot even begin to tell you how many times I've died on the HVMG on "Downpour" because my idiot teamates refused to wait and cover me as I covered and blasted the enemy with the heavy machinegun. A good covering team is worth their weight in gold. If all your teammates are covering each other, it really reduces the kill rate of the enemy team.

Nothing like being drilled while defending your team, because the other idiot members on your team kept rushing out and getting splashed by the enemy players.

    Wait, wait, WAIT!!!!

Hold back and let the enemy come to you. That way you have them on your terms, and not theirs. If everyone on your team holds back, and advances slowly covering each other, you cannot lose.

Take your time, find a great position, and hold back and drill them as now you can take your time and sight them in.

Good post. Yeah, these are definitely helpful. Staying back is a very valuable "skill" in COD4.

Communication and teamwork is extremely important in this game. But I personally don't like to hold back in this game, unless I am playing Search and Destroy. When I first started playing COD4 online, I played it like Socom. I held back and watched the corners. But as I got familiar with the maps (this is key) I find myslef sprinting the majority of the time. I contantly look at the map to see where the enemy is located and I try to out flank them at get the high kill count in order to call in the airstrike/chopper.

A democracy cannot exist as a permanent form of government. It can only exist until the voters discover that they can vote themselves largesse from the public treasury. From that moment on, the majority always votes for the candidates promising the most benefits from the public treasury with the result that a democracy always collapses over loose fiscal policy, always followed by a dictatorship. Flanking is important.

If you see them coming from the front/right, hold back and let them come to you.

this is how Brown_Hornet and I play paintball together, we take the outside and flank the other team covering and moving with each other.

One, thing I like to do in Team Deathmatch is to go wherever my team isn't. I do this to get to the other team's new spawn before they all start spawning behind us. At least then I don't feel like the whole point of the game is to rush from one end of the map to the other over and over again.

As a man, I don't have high standards for women. I just three criteria you must meet. One, are you a woman? Two, have you always been a woman? Three, if you answered "No." to either of the previous questions, can you keep a secret?

but i think the biggest factor is teamplay, no matter what style you play, you can easily tell the difference between playing with random people and people you usually play with. thats how you can win games more consistently. i love you guys, especially ditch, he's liquid sex lolz.

                  Des.

Des the 360 guys mostly play Ground War, Sabotage, and Domination which is our forte. So we can't "camp" and wait cause then the enemy is getting the bomb or taking over our objectives. I agree in TD don't be too overly aggressive, but if you get pinned down your screwed. Because one airstrike will wipe you all out. The problem is you spawn where the rest of your team is which will eventually give up your "hole" you are defending.

I notice that all the time. I'm the guy that locates where the main battlefront is taking place and go around and flank the enemy. (Its amazing what one guy can do to disrupt 9 guys concentration.) But when I'm doing the flanking everyone will start spawning in on my location and then the flank becomes the main battlefront again. :(

I know it was a previous post but I used smoke for the first time last night and it helped me so many times to get to that "strategic" position especially in TD. Especially maps like overgrown, Bloc, and crash

Sorry, I should have specified that I was referring to Teamdeathmatch maps.

I guess it just aggarvates the living hell out of me when I get drilled with three guys on my team next to me. I'll tell my team to "be careful, and watch out. There's a enemy sniper up in the building ahead."

Only sit sit there in disgust as the go hard charging out there, and I watch on the screen that the sure as **** got nailed by the sniper. Well, there goes our score!!

Tell them to watch out and not run out on the road, as there's an enemy chopper hovering literally right above us.

Take a wild guess on what tactic they use.

                    Yep.

They all run out and get mowed down, giving the enemy team a new airstrike, which now kills them all as they just re-spawned.

                    *Sighs*

                    Public rooms.

On a good note though, I was actually complimented from a person from another clan as for "knowing how to play the right way", and saving him from being killed several times. :)

Des if you only played on the 360 with us. But we've been down that road too many times. It is beautiful though. When I first played COD4, I was a .54 win percentage. Its 1.54 now that I started playing with all DSA. Newer DSA COD4members are like 2.5. Its great teamwork that wins our games. Never selffish play as we are all going out as a single unified unit. Once we get two bases in Dom we sit back and camo and have them come to us like you said. Our weakness still is TD because I think we are always too agressive and running into people fire.

I love/hate team deathmatch. I like it beacuse you can just go around and whore everyone. Playing during the day is great, beacause all the kidz are on, and nothing is easier than killing n00b kidz. I'll often find a hidey hole near their spawn point, and since they're too stupid to realise where I am after I've killed them five times, I'll be damned if they don't run out in front of my gun again and again, and again.

I don't like it because as RaTix stated in the smoke thread, the points system only rewards kills, and doesn't penalize for deaths or not using teamwork.

It annoys the hell out of me that a player with twenty kills, and 32 deaths, gets a better score than me with 16 kills, and 0 deaths. So I come in at second place, even though in all actuallity, I was the "better" player.

So in many ways RaTix is dead on in his view of this game in regards to Clan play.

I HATE the wetworks map. Vacant can be awesome with a good team, and downright horrible with a bad team. Pretty much the same as Bog.

I am the bane of all snipers in this game. I hate them, and hunt them down with a passion. Bad enough that they can hide so well, and add that they can drill you far outside of your own range to fire back.

So go ahead and use that sniper. The next thing you'll see is me stabbing you in the back, or planting a claymore up your butt.

I truly do respect the real life snipers, and they are awesome!! They can literally sneak right up to you without you even knowing they're there, and when they shoot, they have to get the hell out of there before they get nailed. They don't get a "re-spawn" if they're spotted.

But snipers in a game are pure cheese, plain and simple.

I disagree you are the better for TD because the object is to get 100 kills before the enemy. You helped them not get 100 kills unlike the other guy.

Okay, allow me to explain my point.

If you get 22 kills, and 20 deaths, you didn't really do your team a service.
Better to stay alive and get get those perks for 22 kills, and 0 deaths. That way if you're alive and not killed, you can activate the group UAV radar, call in Airstrikes, and Helo's. You don't earn them if you keep getting killed, even if you are getting alot of kills on the enemy.

Stay alive and call in three airstrikes, and two helo's on the enemy, and watch your team's points go through the roof!

Yes, as you said if you get the most kill points you do help your team win.

But if you get that many points for kills, yet stay alive, you get that much more many points for yourself, and your team. Add also the chance to kill them even more through airstrikes and choppers!.

I'm not saying your wrong, because you're not. It's just different game tactics.
