It was a great game untill it went to overtime.

The funny thing is that they suprised everyone by actually making most of them during the tournament, but they crashed and burned when it really mattered most. Memphis lost that game, Kansas did not win it.

Memphis really blew it on Monday night. I thought they were going to win even when Kansas inbounded with 10 seconds left. That was a classic shot by Chalmers to tie it. Memphis made so manny errors besides the freethrows that the missed shots really weren't the reason why they lost. They turned it over on an inbounds pass and got killed with a three pointer, they had a horrible foul with Dorsey thirty feet from the basket, and then they didn't foul on the last ten seconds. John Calipari, in this game and in the Tenessee game has proved that he is only an average coach. Two games they should have won but because of poor coaching, they lost.

After reading the title, I was expecting Reaver to announce his pregnancy.....

I'm sure some lucky boy in Florida is breathing a heavy sigh of relief to find out, Reaver is not with child.

                Yeess,

                See way to go tomahawk.

The subject was basketball then you talk about pregnancy and shotguns.

                Great, lol.

Well anyway, IMO, I think Memphis had the potential to win that game because they truly are stronger and better team.

They just got to comfortable near the end of the game and gave kansas a break. And that 3 pointer is what saved there ass.

That foul should have been called to.

But on another note I want to bring this back to two years ago when I had the thread about NFL.

When the bears won everytime and when they had that great season against the colts. Everybody I knew just said they had it easy and they didn't win, The "so and so just lost"

Well, I just want to clarify something here, On christs post because this always confuses me when people say this.

If memphis just lost, and kansas didn't win.

Then would you call it a draw? A tie? A win lose on both sides? Or a game that never occured?

                Because IMO,

If a team wins and another one loses, It's because they earned it.

Whether there was a slip here or there? That could cause the fate of the game? The other team still has to put forth that much more energy to hold the game on there side to win.

And not only did kansas win.

They took it, 7 point lead.

Thats pretty vast for an OT game for teams like that.

And one more thing, Im not bashing here. I just want to get my opinion across.

2008 - New England Patriots Vs. New York Giants.

                Winner - New York Giants.

Under dog - New York Giants.

Undefeated teams? - New England Patriots.

                Score - Giants: 17 Patriots:14

                "The Giants didn't win"

                "The Patriots just lost"

A phrase like that can mean many things and can affect in many ways.

Just wanted to get that out there...

Reaver, that game I wouldn't characterize like that. The Giants won that game, it wasn't handed to them by the Patriots. The Giants stopped an offense that no one had stopped before.

A draw would be two evenly matched teams. That's it.

What I meant with Memphis losing the game was there lack of ability to close out the game. They were the better team on that court for 9/10 of that game. Their poor free throw shooting in the clutch lost it. That's the one flaw I see in basketball, is how teams can be rewarded for fouling. No other sport has intentional fouling in the hope of it backfiring against the team that was fouled. I just do not like that strategic aspect of basketball.

So I would just say, when a team loses a game instead of another winning it means that the losing team endured a collapse and blew it. The winning team didn't really have to step it up and overcome something huge.

Thats why I put that out there.

Let's remember: Even though Memphis missed those freethrows, they still had the 3 point lead with 10 seconds left. Kansas hit their shot. It wasn't like Memphis had two freethrows to win it. I don't think the freethrows were THE reason why they lost, but it certainly was a huge factor. And Kansas shot lights out in the last 2:12 of that game. The big play I though was after Kansas had a shot blocked, Memphis got the ball and outlet passed to Rose (I think) halfway down the court. Rose had no one near him, and he passed it to Douglas-Roberts in the low post, who was guarded. CDR goes for the bucket, but gets fouled hard, misses the shot, and goes to the line where he missed the two freethrows. If Rose holds on to that ball, it's another 2 or three seconds before anyone can foul him, or maybe the man guarding CDR would have tried to foul and Rose finds an open CDR for the basket. I just did not like how Memphis played that sequence leading to the Douglas-Roberts freethrow.

You guys are making great points here.

                        But take out the free-throws.

Look at the big picture here.

Kansas came back from a massive lead and tied the game.

I beleive it was both of the teams.

Memphis lost there touch and got to comfortable with the remaining minutes to go, because they could have easily won it if they wanted to.

Kansas found that error Memphis kept making and took advantage of it and used it against them too win.

So really I beleive It was Memphis' fault for letting it slip and Kansas trully pushed that much harder at the end.

I meen if you look at the distance of that 3 pointer,

I wouldn't call it luck i would really lean towards effort in my opinion.

Because as Christ and Tony said.

lol, other wise memphis wouldn't have been in that 3 pointer predicament and they would have had more time and up by more points. And if that happend.

KANSAS WOULDN'T HAVE HAD ENOUGH TIME TO RETALIATE BACK TO SCORE LIKE THEY DID WITH THERE 3!

                        Memphis should have won.

                        They just got to comfy,
