TV Dilemma

Hey guys. My family is deciding to get another LCD HDTV and moving the other one downstairs. Here are the 2 options we are considering. I am only using Amazon because it is easier to see the specs. I have 1 question. Which one would be good for my 360? Any help would be appreciated. The "full" specs should be available if you click "See More Technical Details" under the Tech. Details section. Also, there is a paragraph at the end with more techy terms.

I don't think the two are apples to apples. The Samsung has 8 bit instead of 10 bit LCD processor. So the Toshiba probably specs better. That being said, Samsung is one of the top flat panel LCD display companies around, which probably contributes to its higher price point. But I think from a spec standpoint, the Toshiba looks a bit better---thinner, better contrast. I didn't do a thorough search, though.

Unless you have the Elite System, you should make sure the TV has the regular HD inputs (RGB wires) and not just the HDMI ports. They both look like they have just the HDMI ports. Although the pictures of the first one seems like it might, but they don't give a close up on the one control panel on the back.

yeah---but component color cables, not the standard yellow for video, red and white for audio. RGB is Red Green Blue...for the 360, those are the best for inputs when you don't use HDMI. Ratix's point is a really good one. check your current TV for how you have it input there.

Ratix---newer 360s have HDMI, not just the Elites. We early adopters didn't get that feature.

VGA would work just as well, but I would have to buy another cable, right?

VGA would work, but on a TV it would be at a much much lower resolution. TV's do have a monitor type setup, hence the VGA connector. But they aren't Monitors or built like them. So even if the TV can do 1080p for TV, it's not necessarily gonna do 1080p for VGA. They usually cap out at 800x600 or less resolution on the VGA. Also VGA is Analog, not Digital. You would have to find out what the VGA max Resolution is on the TV. If it does do 1080p for the VGA then you can get the VGA adapter like I have (use it on my real monitor).

So RGB is the best since it gives me digital+the best resolution for games which is 720 p now, right? Or maybe its 768i....

The 360 can do 1080p, that's what mine is set at. It's just a matter of what the TV/Monitor can handle.

If your using the standard xbox cables, that's probably perfect for you.

What about LG as a brand. What are they in the scale of brands. Like Sony and Samsung are on top while Insignia is on the bottom. Where is LG?

That I couldn't tell you. Not to keen on TV brands and models. Just the parts that are needed.

For some reason, when I go to edit my HD settings on the 360, it only accepts up to 1080i. WHen 1080p is selected it says "No Video Signal". The TV is 1080p, so why is this not working. Is it because I'm using the RGB cables and not the HDMI? I have an old 360 so I couldn't use the HDMI if I wanted to.
