    Aaargh!!!!

    *Sighs*

After hunting through their support website for why in Hell my credit card will not work on the PSN online store.:

The PLAYSTATIONŽNetwork Card (PSN Card) is a prepaid card that may be used to apply funds to a PLAYSTATIONŽWallet without using a credit card. Please visit your local authorized PlayStationŽ retailer to purchase the PSN Card. The PSN Card is only available for use on PLAYSTATIONŽNetwork Master Accounts with a United States address. Please note that we do not recommend using prepaid cards other than the PLAYSTATION Network Card,as they may not be accepted by the PLAYSTATION Network.
My nice email to Sony in reply:

My wife recently purchased a Wal-Mart pre-paid Visa gift card for me so I could purchase content from the Playstation online store so I could download new maps packs and so on.

I then find out after many times of trying to use it, only to have it tell me that my account info isn't verified. I go to the Wal-Mart account site, and it tells me beyond a doubt that my card IS verified.

And to add insult to injury, every time I did try and use it on your store, it tried to charge my account $1.00 for every time I tried,so now the available balance on my account isn't enough to purchase from Sony what I wanted to buy in the first place. Thanks guys! I appreciate it alot!!! >:(

When you go to add funds to your Playstation store wallet, it should PLAINLY state that most gift cards WON'T work!!! I cannot believe that a corporation like Sony will not accept gift cards PRE PAID, from the largest retailer in the entire world.

So now I'm stuck with a card that won't work, I can't download any new maps and content, and Sony doesn't get my money. Not very good customer service.

How hard would it be to have it plainly stated on the Playstation store that PRE PAID gift cards will not work?

I don't get what I want to buy, and Sony doesn't get my money. It says that you can buy PSN cards that will work, only where I live they don't sell the darn things, which is why she bought me a pre paid card to use.

Pre paid cards are a great way for people like my self that refuse to put our personal credit/debit card numbers at risk. Since the cards are already pre-paid with money on them, why does a corpoarate giant like Sony refuse them?

It's not hard to see why X-Box live is doing so well, with service like this from Sony.

I honestly can't believe this crap. No where, and I mean no where on the PSN online store does it state that most pre paid gift credit cards will not work. Or the fact that they try to charge you $1.00 for every time you do try and use your card.

It's bad enough I can't join the Clan practices on Warhawk because I can't buy the new maps, and now I won't be able to join Clan practices or other games on COD4 because I can't buy the new content. Just beacuse they (Sony) will not accept pre paid cards. That is BEYOND stupid to me, and I'm absolutely furious!

That's strange because I have been using a prepaid card and when I had that error occur I just entered in the amount of funds needed to purchase what I wanted then go back and add the remaining amount, haven't had that issue since. Hopefully Sony will shed some light for you Des.

I hope so. This is beyond maddening.

It asks to add funds to your wallet and to add the credit card info. Never does it ask for any monetary amount. Then it tells me either the network cannot access the info, or it tells me my info is "invalid".

After viewing the PS forums, it seems like I'm not the only one having this "problem".

It's really pissing me off. It doesn't say how or why, it just won't accept my card, hence my nasty reply to them. Sony keeps on dropping the ball, time and time again. You cannot tell me that people there are so stupid, as to not accept pre-paid cards. Yes, it's true that you have to pay for X-Crotch live, but at least it works!.

As I told them, how hard would it be to at least say that if you try and use a pre-paid card, it mostly wouldn't work?

        From the ps3 forums:

I am having the same problem with the PS Store that many of you are having. "Invalid Info", no matter how many times i input the correct info and take $1 hits to my account, it returns and says "Invalid info". Since the PSN Cards are no where to be found, I started this thread for those of us looking for prepaid/gift cards that actually work or to avoid buying those cards that dont work. I already called Sony support to figure out why my personal debit card doesnt work, and they were no help.

        Format:
Credit company: VISA, DISCOVER, MASTERCARD, etc
Company issuing card: could be anything -- please specify
Type: Pre-paid credit card or gift-card or another
Location of purchase: bank, supermarket, gift shop -- please specify
Minimum balance: $20, $25 (Most is $25, but will vary)
Works? Yes if actually purchased, no if not

        Cards that will work:

        Credit Company: Amex
        Company issuing card: American Express
        Type: Pre-paid credit card
        Location of purchase: CVS, Walgreens....
        Minimum balance: $25 + fees
Works? Yes --- (Three report stating yes)

        Credit company: Visa
        Company issuing card: Visa
        Type: Gift card
        Location of purchase: CVS
        Minimum balance:$50
Works? Yes, i bought... (One report stating yes)
        Credit company: MasterCard
Company issuing card: Money Mart (In Canada)

        Type: Pre-Paid Credit Card

        Location of purchase: Money Mart

Minimum balance: When putting money on the card the minimum is $10
Works? Yes *** make sure when u put money on your PSN Account that you have 0.50 cents more on your Pre-paid card than what ur putting in your PSN account. Each purchase with the card has a 0.50 fee. (One report stating yes)

Cards that wont work: (from user experiences reported)
        Credit Company: VISA
Company issuing card: Central Progressive Bank
        Type: Pre-paid credit card
        Location of purchase: CPB Bank

I'm just amazed that they sent me in reply a simple form letter telling me to wait 24 hours and try again. They didn't even answer not one of my questions.

Add the fact that they keep adding "mandatory" updates, that don't tell you what they're updating in the first place. Second to the last update changed my sound configurations so after I installed itI no longer had sound on any of my PS2 games, And I had to sit there for hours turning on and off each switch to finally get it to have sound again, and now after this last one, my wireless keyboard no longer works, and now my controller acts all wonky.

              ARRRRGGGGHHH!!!!

How hard would it be for them to post what the new updates will change, and if it changes something, how to go back and fix what new problem it caused?

Every new "mandatory" update turns into an adventure in fustration for me. I mean C'mon, I can't just be the only one having these problems!.

When I called Sony about my problem they basically said the card has to support their security service thing that verifies your address. So my credit card didn't and still doesn't work. I purchase a $30.00 Visa prepaid and tried it but was unsuccessful the first few attempts. I was thinking I was going to have to purchase another card, so I actually used this one for about $17.00 or so at the grocery store leaving me about $13.00 on the card. Later in the day I found out one crucial step to being able to use this gift to go card online, was that you have to go to www.gift2go.net and actually register the card to yourself. Basically you put in some information like your name and address and the card number so when you try to use it say in the PSN store, the name and address match up. (Thats their big security thing and apparently some of the banks, like mine, don't even use a simple address/name verification for anyone to use my card.) Attached is what my card looks like. *edit* I got it at Walgreens, not Walmart, sorry about that.
