I'm glad that you have both systems Zabka, as if there is anyone here that can honestly compare the two head to head with out ant preference, it's certainly you. You lucky &&*%$#

XBL, as I've been told, and by what research I've done is clearly better. Hands down.

    But it shouldn't be.

The giant behemoth that is Sony should've by now realized what was wrong with the PSN, and fixed it. The Japanese are anything but stupid. (Well, besides that whole attack on Pearl Harbor thing, but that was years ago. LOL).

If Sony truly wants to compete head to head with Micosucks, they're going to have to step up and rise up to the problems it has. The PSN is very user unfriendly, and complicated. A uniform standard from the get go would've been nice. They tout that the PSN is free, but any new maps and content? well, bring out that credit card.

That to me isn't truly "free".

Either that, or come out with the PSN cards that we've been promised since Christmas, last year.

*Ahem*. Where are they again..? Oh that's right.....not available yet.

Games that you cannot easily download the new maps and content for me isn't the answer. And why can't we mute people? Why can't I join my friends?

Sony just keeps dropping the ball. Why, I have no idea. The only people they're hurting is themselves. Why come out with a game, that people can't join their Clan, or friends on easily?

    And once again, no mute?.

    *Gah!*

If Sony claims that the PSN is free, yet demands that you "buy" the new maps and content, well, it isn't "free" is it?

This fish feels a hook in his mouth.

Also notice that they pulled the "new" update because it was causing people's machines to lock up?. Didn't anyone do their homework there?

    WTF?.

Microsoft may suck, but at least they listen to their customers. Even if you have to pay for it.

    Des.

I don't see that Home is gonna change anything, and the new 2.41, which I got this morning, isn't gonna change much either. The in game messaging is gonna be so nice though and a much needed add on.

I have a question though for the 360 users, what is the biggest game as far as how many people you can have in a game at a time? Can you only get 8 on 8, is that like the biggest? I know just big servers doesn't make up for good gaming, but as far as clan wise it kinda makes it nice to all be able to get together at the same time, in the same room, and play. Say everyone in the clan went 360, is their a game that could handle us all getting into one server? Sorry that just might be my ignorance in the system but I was just wondering.

Tell that to 90% of PS3 users who are still waiting for HOME to come out and the 10% beta testers laughing at everyone who doesn't have it yet. :(

2.41 makes it easier to text other people in-game, that already changed a lot. :p

            Hey Rdaug!

The answer is most games are 9v9 and lower. There is Frontlines Fuel of War which has 50 player servers set up so you can have 25v25. Frontlines had a bunch of issues when it came out, but with the big patch the game is a ton of fun to play. It's a lot like Warhawk in some ways. There's planes, helicopters (Attack and Transport), tanks, anti-air vehicles, and jeeps. The best thing about Frontlines is that even if you play as a ground troop you can still hold your own against vehicles.

Hey Des, I agree with a lot of what you said and it's part of what helped me sway to the 360. The bad thing about Microsoft is that they regulate everything to do with their online service. Having 3rd party servers like we did in SWBF, user maps, and other cool features is something that as f right now is not allowed by Microsoft. The good thing about Microsoft is that they do regulate everything. This sets up a nice set up rules for cost and equality for the downloads. Now granted some downloads aren't created equal and you can tell it's just the gaming company being greedy..lol

I think I posted something here from an article a long time ago about Sony's free service and the potential darkside of it. Basiclly the article said Sony left the door open for the gaming companies to charge you to play much in the same way WoW does. Seeing how greedy a lot of the game companies were getting that worried me a bit.

One thing I can't wait to see is Home. I hated Second lIfe and all that it stands for and to see Sony adot that and use it really upset me. It's a neat concept till you find out all the horrors that Second Life is...lol

I think that the empty level walkthroughs and war room planning tables that home has leaked out, will be great for strategizing. Plus I think it will allow all your friends to gather, and then hop onto said games servers together. So theoretically it should make playing togetger easier. What the hell do I know though?

Tony--any game should enable you to host your own room so you can examine a level anyway. I am not sure that is much of an advantage. Much the way that socom vets train noobs, it is about where to go upon spawn, where to snipe from, where to thrown and avoid nades, etc. Not sure what Home does that helps that.

But as for all joining a room together, that's not the issue. If everyone was on at the same time, it isn't too difficult to find a room. But people tend to straggle in at different points. Joining together would have one advantage if you have the exact number of players available for the remaining slots in a room--assuming it lets the party join together and blocks everyone else. But that's relatively minor and games like COD4 and Halo have that system already. Invites are useful in that the person just accepts and starts joining the room. This is useful if a game doesn't have a join list---or it isn't working well. Much the way SWBF2's join list didn't work, I imagine there will be PS3 games that have those same problems. Having a centralized way of being able to do that kind of thing without depending on the developers to make it is the key.

Again--we all complain about how many corners developers cut to get a game out by a ship date instead of getting it right. The online applications often seem to be the last things considered. Warhawk and socom are notable exceptions since they are/will be multiplayer only.
You're the best! Around! Nothings gonna ever keep you down!

OK I'm kinda jacking this thread for some Home discussion. I mean this stuff looks nice, but it kinda reminds me of GTA and what some people said about you could spend hours of your time just looking around and not actually playing the game, or in this case any game. It looks cool as ****, but why not a simple, click on a friends name from the xmb and click on it to join their game? Why, like in Warhawk do I have to start the game, then scroll through to find your buddies name in there to join the game? I guess its the 3rd party thing vs. the Live.

***Or in the case of Home, see who's online, Join Home, meet up, then launch Warhawk, and even then its just launching the game, still no guarantee you will even be able to get in the same server together.

damn, he never got to much into the warhawk room. I was hoping there would be a way to zoom in on it.

It was funny, if you noticed when he went into the warhawk room there were people standing around the table and two of them were talking and one said something like, oh here he comes, he's here. I wonder if they were trying to hide something that was messing up, lol.

Didn't want to start a new thread so here it is an add on for the PS3. It its what we wanted turning our PS3 into a DVR. Sucks though you gotta buy this to record yourself playing apparently? Ok its not really what we wanted :p but could be a cool addition to the PS3.

Firmware for it is already installed on our 2.41 updated :o

And here's video if it will work for you.

i thought at first that it was going to record you playing a game, but that dvr thing is much cooler.

I still would like a way to record myself playing warhawk without having to go out and buy a camera and just film the tv screen. I'm not even sure how well that would work. If it works well I could just borrow my friends video camera.
