Those listings have since been removed, either at the request of the publisher or because they were incorrect. After some digging, we're forced to support the former possibility, which is good news for PS3(*360 is written in the 360 section)owners.
Two independent sources have confirmed to IGN that Star Wars Battlefront III is set to hit current-generation consoles, PS3 included. The developer named by both tipsters is Free Radical Design, best known for the TimeSplitters first-person shooter series.
In 2006, Free Radical Design announced that it had entered into an agreement with LucasArts to work on a top-secret property. If our sources are to be believed, it seems likely said property is, in fact, Star Wars Battlefront III.
When asked, officials for LucasArts declined to comment.
The best-selling Star Wars Battlefront II has appeared on five different platforms since its release. Both it and its predecessor featured robust online multiplayer modes in which gamers could choose some of their favorite Star Wars characters and wage war on each other in fast-moving duels to the death. Battlefront III would seem likely to continue the winning formula. LucasArts is not expected to show Battlefront III at E3 2008.
