As far as old vs new zombies I don't know why people are so attached to the old ones. They were slow, lame, plus poor A.I. I want a challenge not face off against some slow pokes.

As for the controls, I agree completely with Ratix. The controls for RE have always sucked balls. At least you can strafe now.

As for the complaints about sheva. She won't steal your ammo if you tell her not to. Here is the secret:

If you have a gun that she doesn't have and you ask her for ammo for it, then she will always give you any ammo for that gun that she finds. If you give her ammo for any gun then she will act like she has that gun. Why else would you give her ammo for it?

If you want her to give you ammo all the time for a certain gun, then make sure she doesn't have the same type of gun and then just ask her for the ammo that goes for it. You'll never have to worry about it again.

Usually I go with Chris having the pistol, sniper, and shotgun, and I let her run around with the SMG. She gives me all the ammo for my guns and she keeps the ammo for her stuff.

I just disarm her. She gets to carry grenades only, and i haul ass keeping her from getting any health items... I don't want her picking up a damned thing... I use her as a fucking packmule with ammo and grenades. She Sucks. I'll let her hold ammo ONLY for guns she doesn't have.

I didnt mind the 1-3 "tank" controls, as the series was pretty uniquely gifted at capturing what made zombie horror great. 4 changed the series, and did a great job with the gamecube controller. It never felt awkward because it was the first game I played with the over the shoulder view like that, and the controls were great! I'd contend the gc 4 controls are superior to 5's, all things being equal. Now that Gears, SOCOM, Uncharted and most recently Dead Space have all done and done it better, going BACK to re4 will feel clumsy in comparison... but the gc version is still a better control interface than 5's.

The bitch sucks, period. People complained about the Ashley sequences in 4, but they never bothered me. She never went around the room dousing herself with green herbs she picked up as I sniped.

This game isn't survival horror at all. I'm only to 2-3, or 3-1, but there's no horror... 4 got blasted for this because it wasnt survival it was out and out blasting, but it still had the creepy feel and made you jump and kept you nervous. This one doesn't at all. I never heal, and never allow Sheva to heal. If we die I don't care, if she's hurt I'll save her and vice versa... heart rate never goes up.

One element that is in all good zombie movies is that feeling of being overwhelmed. It's at the core of zombie movies and why they are so uniquely interesting. They are dumb, slow, and brainless, but there are millions of them coming for you... you can kill a million and they don't care... they just want your brains... and you will run out of food water or ammo eventually. But that isnt this game, this is an action game, ad thats fine.

I'm actually coming around on it as a game, and my only issue is really with the controls other than the annoyances of the dumb bitch getting in my way. 4 was cutting edge when released, and in the last 5 years so many other games have done that gameplay better and advanced it that I figured we would see a slick, well crafted horror game with intuitive controls that took the best things about the Gears, SOCOM, Uncharted, and DS control schemes and was really clever with them. Instead we get: RE4 + lotsa guns + annoying bitch - all suspense - good control + cool online - all horror elements.

SO. I still say the controls are a major step backward, but I've just stopped treating as a RE game and I'm able to enjoy it. It's not a good zombie game, horror game, or survival horror game, but it is a fun dub summer blockbuster action movie kind of game, and I'm cool with that... after pretending you don't have an R stick and trying to get it as advanced as the 2004 control scheme was.
