That fight scene in Old Boy is the shit. I have Teeth on my Netflix list but I mean a vag with teeth? The others I will check out.

Yeah the scene in the tunnel is pretty freaking awesome. It's such a good movie overall.


I can't believe you haven't seen American Psycho yet Solo. The threesome scene in that is hilarious, though after wards it gets a little disturbing..lol

Oh man that movie (AP) is sheer torture for me... and the source of my biggest case of foot in mouth disease. One time a friend of mine asked if I had seen it, and after railing on it for what seemed like 10 minutes he told me the sister that was coming into town the next day was the one that wrote the screenplay. Oops. I don't care though. Hate that movie, and thought about punching her in the face for writing it.

Yea I have it on my Netflix list, I don't know why I haven't seen it either but it happens. There is a great one from Brazil, City of God is what its called I think, Keyser would know more about it but its bad ass.

I haven't seen Oldboy. But isn't that part of a trilogy of movies by the director? I have heard fanboys say that Oldboy may not be the best one (2nd best is what some have told me).

Yep it's the second in a loose trilogy, kinda like the dollars (Sergio Leone) or the mariachi (Robert Rodriguez) trilogies. The name given to Oldboy's trilogy is Vengeance. The first one was Sympathy for Mr. Vengeance and the last is Lady Vengeance. The last movie is pretty damn good too, maybe the one people say is better, but IMO Oldboy is a better movie for me. Though the reenactment scene in LV is creepy on so many levels. Not to mention the kidney thing in Mr. that's just wrong.

Now Keyser, why did you dislike the movie? Was it for the same reasons you didn't (maybe) like Fight Club?

No I love Fight Club. I would never compare those two. I hated all characters, all dialog, I hated Bale in that role and thought it sucked on the production, direction, writing and acting.

I love the Dollars trilogy and to a lesser degree the Mariachi trilogy though. I like Rodriguez as a movie maker, though I don't LOVE his movies, but they are fun and I like em. I am a huge fan of Leone and Morricone as well, and think they make an awesome pair. If you've seen the Dollars trilogy and like them, I'd HIGHLY recommend Once Upon A Time In The West, and OUATI America... a Leone gangster film with Deniro. Also, if you get a chance to see "Duck, You Sucker AKA A Fistful of Dynamite" IT IS ONE OF THE BEST of Leone's Westerns, and will blow you away.

City of God is a mindblower. Do NOT watch the trailer or look up anything about it. It is so well crafted and immediately accessible that it really is one of the best films ever made. To watch a trailer ruins the impact, as the story very slowly evolves from one thing to the next, and takes some very cool turns before arriving at the true story... I saw the trailer AFTER watching the movie and was appalled that such a trailer was ever made for it.

I'm a hard ass on reviews. I'm able to separate loving a movie from knowing how well crafted it is. There are movies I know that suck but I like them, and there are great movies that I hate. City of God is thoroughly one the high end of both scales. If I tell you something sucks, you may still like it, and I'm full well admit that stuff, but if I tell you something is good, you can count on it.
