Agreed. How old is your system? Is it still under warranty? if it's not would you be up for donating it to a tech junkee in hopes of the advancement of hacking. Let me know man.

No worries I feel ya man. I'd try and fix it. But i'm not pro there's always a chance I'd fuck it up

Honestly if it's out of warranty, you could send it in for repair may be cheaper than buy a new one. Or if you know your way electronics, I suggest checking out some tutorials.....but you might fuck it up more...a thought.

Well Rage I'm out of warranty. I'd do anything for it to work again, except send it in. I just don't have the money to replace it. I just got laid off last week and I will soon be receiving my unemployment checks. But they're not gonna cover anything besides rent and power. Can you fix it Rage?

Let me do some research and see if it's anything I can work with.

Why wouldn't you want to send it in. You think it would be too pricey. I mean I can't see it being more than just buying a new one.

Well it seems, most likely the CPU or the GPU have become overheated and have detached itself off the motherboard. Fixing it seems simple, just time consuming and I'd have to buy a heating gun which i don't own. it's would be like 30 bucks for one of those. And then there's always the chance that this may not be the problem and or that it can get messed up in the process of fixing it.

I've read that it would be around 150 bucks to have Sony fix it. I"m sure you can find somewhere online that you could send it for cheaper than sony but I don't know who.

I'm going to continue researching and I'll give you a heads up and see what I think. I'm not a pro, just a tech geek. I've taken apart a few consoles to add modchips and clean them out. I'm just willing to try and help.

Well thanks for your help Rage. The reasoning behind why I think 150 is a little pricey is because I'm not really at a point where I have disposable income. There is a shine of hope, my bro just donated his PS3 so I can have something to do, but the thing is, when I put my hard drive in it it said that I would have to reformat it in order for the damn thing to work. Any suggestions on that or am I just blue balling it till I can get the money to send it in to Sony?

Do you mean putting your HDD in your brother's PS3? yeah you may have to reformat in order for it to work on his. It's possible that you may not need to reformat when your PS3 is fixed. Since the HDD is formatted for that PS3. Thus saving all your data and saved games. Too bad you can't just back it up. Not much you can do. I probably wouldn't reformat in hops of saving your game saves.

Have you tried just leaving the PS3 on for a few hours and see if anything happens. You can always just sign on to your bros PS3 using your account, allowing you to download any games you have off of PSN.

I hear that. Give it sometime while your money gets adjusted I'm sure you'll be up and running faster than you think. I suggest putting some change to the side and you'll be up and running in no time.

Sucks you can't get that map pack. But at least you won't have to spend 400 dollars on getting a new one.
