    Attention CFW Users (PSP)

I knew this was coming, but really it's only gonna last a few days once the modders get a hold of it.

Evangelion: Jo is first anti-CFW PSP game, more to come?

No CFW allowed - Image 1French site PSP Gen has got some curious and interesting tidbit regarding certain games that can actually recognize a Custom Firmwared PSP, which in turn blocks you from being able to play it. On such game is Evangelion: Jo, currently available only to the Japanese market.

    Said the post (duly translated):

Sony and the software house to pass counterattack. E 'of the news yesterday that the game Evangelion: Jo, for now this only on the Japanese market, is able to recognize the presence of the PSP Custom Firmware that is started. This is done by making a check on the RAM of the console, and whether this is positive, the game will not start. The solution to the problem might be but just around the corner. Like the CF-A 5.02GEN has a feature that allows you to emulate an official firmware, soon also the last 5.50GEN CF will benefit from this option. We will keep you updated when new.

An anti-CFW check, you say? If this be true, then Sony is apparently upping the ante on their drive against homebrew. But at the same time, they'll just be driving more people towards piracy. Sound tough, but not exactly the win-win situation we'd rather have.

Hopefully Sony can get rid of all the hackers on the psp. I am not a fan of the homebrew stuff. It doesn't really allow you to do anything that you can't do already on the psp. Internet? got that already. Skype? got that already. Music? got that already. Video? got that already. Movies and Games? got that already.

The only thing that homebrew stuff lets you do is cheat in online video games. And that is why I do not play any game online for the psp. Too many hackers have completely and utterly ruined the entire online experience for every single game out there for the psp.

The homebrew stuff is cool for DLing games from other systems and they're some cool music making applications as well. I pretty much only use my psp for remote play while I poop. My shits not even hacked anymore.

I'm not sure why, but I find these lines incredibly humorous.

            Lol, still chuckling about it

I never did hack my PSP. With the exception of game emulation, I had no reason to. I don't think I've turned my PSP on this year

There's tons of great things to do with a hacked psp......but I do agree with the cheater on online games they have ruined most of the online gaming for the PSP. I barely play online on my psp anymore because of it.

There are great apps out there and many programs that will allow you to get other video formats and music formats some homebrew games are really good.

What I really like is iRShell. It has everything and can do sooo much I enjoy going to Gamestops where they have shut off the demo displays and turning them back on so I can play. Only if you have PSP Phat with the IR.

So don't dump on hacked PSPs. They're great but it sucks that you have players out there that find cheating and making other gamers have a miserable time fun. Those gamers suck and aren't real gamers.

I modded mine, but I never go online with it of course. Does this mean they are now seeking out modders and shit?

No it just means that if you download an ISO or purchase a game it may recognize that you use a CFW and just not play. But I've already heard of some ways around it all so do your Homework when you check out games.

But really please buy games. I'll download them and then purchase the worthy ones, but really I haven't found any worth buying. PSP games are lame for the most part. they are too short or too easy. Though Killzone Liberations is awsome. Worth the purchase.
