Why LucasArts?

I got done playing the demo for SW: Clone Wars...and it shows me that LA is either beating around the bushes or completely ignorant about making SWBFIII. The gameplay is almost IDENTICAL to SWBF (even the menu resembles SWBFII), but instead of making SWBFIII they decide to make a crappy PS2 graphic rip-off. Why does LA insist on wasting time making crappy games instead of finishing SWBFIII, which will most likely sell more than all their new SW games!?!? It seems the only way our voices will be heard is if we spam their gaming branch!

Yea.....that demo was pretty shitty man......I downloaded it played alittle, But was instantly turned off. I just couldn't stand it.

Ok but consider this:

The original trilogy.

Everyone wanted it on DVD. Instead, you get the special editions, completely cleaned up with great audio and clean visuals. Lucas said the originals were dead to him, so to hell with your childhood.

So eventually enough demand was put out there, and he complies. In the worst possible way. He letterboxes the originals in a matted format, leaves them in 2.0 stereo, and doesn't clean up one frame of footage. Jackass... but they still sell well.

It is pretty unthinkable that they have not put this out there, at this point... it would be a sure seller, and they really could re-release BF1&2 for 360 and PS3 with no graphical overhaul at all and sell a million with the improvements of the networks alone. Why this hasn't been done and we get clone wars crap is beyond me, but putting pressure on Lucas will only get some half-assed product out of him.

I hope someday to have a product that people LINE UP to give me money for because they love it. I can't comprehend how you could have this situation and not take advantage of it. Has to be some kind of psychosis.

As an artist, this is my take on the whole thing. Basically you have to look at this from an artistic point of view. George Lucas came out with Episodes 4 through 6, and everybody loved it. He sold all kinds of stuff and generally felt appreciated for his work. He came out with Indiana Jones and everybody loved it. He sold lunchboxes and all that stuff and generally felt appreciated for his work. He also came out with Willow, Labyrinth, Beverly Hills Cop III, and people enjoyed those movies and and he made a ton of money and felt now is feeling like an invincible mother fucker. He can't be touched, he is brilliant, everybody tells him this 24-7

Now he is trying to cash in even more on the franchise, doing what other Hollywood buttnuggets would do and that is spin off some sequels from the really good stuff. He came out with Episodes 1 through 3, and people hated it, they thought it was the worst crap they ever saw. Now he is slightly offended but still thinks that he can come out with something great and cash in, after all he is George Lucas, the best of the best, an invincible motherfucker. The original Star Wars movies were panned by the critics and he still made bank, he is going to prove them wrong again.

So he comes out with another Indiana Jones movie, and just goes over the top with action and special effects, thinking that will win everyone over. Too bad it was hated by the fans and now he is pissed. He is thinking to himself that his best days have past him by. His games sold really well before but now his crappy spin offs from those games are not working. Maybe he would have come out with another Star Wars Battlefront game but at this point he is thinking sequels and prequels don't work. He thinks that maybe he should take it in another direction, maybe that is what the REAL fans want. He doesn't listen to the critics anymore, not after Star Wars episodes 4 through 6, no no.

Now he is in shambles, his career as an artist is tanking, nobody appreciates anything he does, and rightly so because it's all garbage. He has no idea what he is going to do anymore completely lost. He got caught in the "blue light" now he is off stage and can't get back on to save his life. He is grabbing at straws like life lines and has no clue, he has lost touch.

Thats just my take as an artist.

A friend of mine once described George Lucas as the owner of a bar and chief bartender.

You hear great things about how awesome his bar is, so one friday night you stop in. You ask for a beer, so he hands you a ginger ale. You start drinking it and question him, and he pulls out his dick and pisses in your face.

You leave pissed off and pissed on, and can't believe everyone is thrilled with this bar.

Still people rave about how he invented the new paradigm for bars and is a genius. Thinking the time you went had to be a fluke, you go back. Upon sitting down at the bar, you order a white russian, and he opens up a carton of chocolate milk right in front of you and pours it over rocks. Sensing you are about to question it, he pisses in your face again.

You leave utterly pissed off. You can't believe whatever used to be good about this place is still there, or if everyone is playing a practical joke on you.

A few years later, he opens a restaurant in town and everyone is going... lines around the block. You show up, and order a Filet and a Salad. 45 minutes last, your waiter shows up with a cold weiner on a paper plate and slaps the f**k out of you.

"Ok," you say to yourself "that's it, thats it, I've had enough" you leave in a rage.

A few years later you read in your local paper that Lucas has opened up a pizza parlor, and sure as shit, there are lines around the block. You know he constantly pisses in your face and it's always a horrible experience, but there are so many people in line... maybe you should check it out... it could be awesome....... it sure used to be...

Don't forget that George Lucas probably has no input into which of these sequel games get made since he doesn't care. And publishers know they make no money off lucasarts games. So unless they decide to invest in designing and publishing the game, lucasarts games will continue to suck.

I found a few websites talking about two secret Pandemic games, projects x and y. They said nothing about what they were only that they cant talk about them yet. http://www.psxextreme.com/ps3-news/5690.html

There was also an interview with an ex Free Radical employee who said that the seamless ground to space transition was technology that died with the company, which I find hard to believe. I always thought that the game play footage was leaked on purpose to keep support for the game going. At this point I dont expect it, but will be pleasantly surprised if it does come out.

Since when did George Lucas stop caring about money? I still think everyhting is underground. We'll see what happens, I'll let you know when I get my deployment orders.
