    Song suggestions, people?

So my band has a very unexpected show coming up this Halloween at a bar, and we only have 17 songs. 4-6 of them I could personally throw in the shitter, but thats not realistic at such short notice.

So the band wants everyone to come up with a list of songs that we think we should add. They are all 42+ so they'll be adding like 70's and 80's songs but I'm 22 and I want some songs that my age group would recognize and be into.

But I'm totally freakin blanking. All I can think of is that I play Weezers "Say It Ain't So" very well. So well that they don't even have to play it right, they just have to get through it and let me work my magic.

But thats all I can think of. So please give me some suggestions.
And please have them be realistic. No songs with strings or keyboards.
Just straight up 2 guitars, bass, drums and vocals songs.

    Thanks. :)

I'm digging Lay Down and Slow Ride. My band will probably be pussies about Lay Down though since its somewhat difficult and they just want easy songs. But I'm gonna try to learn it right now.

I would love to play that Nine Inch Nails song but there's too many sound effects and we do not have a keyboard.

We already have 2 KISS songs so thats out of the question.

            Keep 'em coming people!

December by Collectice Soul, Heaven Let Your Light Shine Down, Take It on The Run by REO Speedwagon, Let Her Cry- Hootie, Run Around-Blues Traveler.

Blunt most of those do not have chords past the third fret so easy to learn and I can play most of those so therefore easy to play lol. Plus Heaven Let Your Light Shine Down will have everyone in the crowd singing. And for me try Hard to Handle by the Black Crows!!

Another Tom Petty song would be Won't Back Down. Should be easier to master than Don't Do Me Like That.

The question is what is the audience. What's the age group of the people of the party? While there are a lot of people my age that do get a kick out of 70's/80's rock and things like The Beatles and you'd be safe with songs from that timeframe, I find that some 40-somethings have a hard time getting into things like Nine Inch Nails.

If you want songs for your age group, Blunt, Weezer would be a nice place to start, maybe try "Buddy Holly" or "Beverly Hills". I would also think of bands that cross over well. REM, U2, Bruce Springsteen are good examples. Try "Desire" (or if you want something more known, but trickier, take a shot at "Pride (In the Name of Love") by U2, "Supernatural Superserious" by REM and "Cover Me" by Springsteen.
"You gotta have fun. Regardless of how you look at it, we're playing a game. It's a business, it's our job, but I don't think you can do well unless you're having fun." - Derek Jeter

So you want good bar rock? Here's a few

                    Tom Petty - Free Faliin'
Spoon - Everything hits at once, but anything off the Girls can tell, or Telephono albums especially... if they are older and talented, they will enjoy playing this bands stuff.
Cake - Frank Sinatra, Mexico, The Distance, I Will Survive cover, Meanwhile Rick James, and any other song they ever did, this will give your leads plenty of time to play and improvise some cool stuff.
Rolling Stones - Beast of Burden.
John Cougar Mellancamp - Hurt so good
                    The Outfield - Your Love

                    Since it is halloween...
                    Alice Cooper - Eighteen.
                    Danzig - Mother, Hybrid Moments
The Cure - Burn (Crow soundtrack)
Machines of Loving Grace - Golgotha tenament blues (crow soundtrack)
The Toadies - Possum Kingdom (ROCKS any bar you play)

                      How about GWAR's

"Preschool Prostitute" or "Fucking an Animal"

"Hard for a 'Tard" and "Should the Ugly Girl Blow Me" by The Dave Brockie Experience are real good.

"Beefcake the Mighty, clotted with spew. His sword falls, skulls burst in two. The eyes burst from sockets, he is not through. Thousands of warriors he does this to. Piling the corpses of those that he slew. Untill it was hard to tell if the pile grew!"-GWAR
