I feel this is "rant-able" and I haven't gone off on a good rant about video games in a while. We've been playing Modern Warfare 2 for a month. In that time, I can remember three times, and three, maybe four times only that a roomful of DSA have been in a room and lost because of a Tactical Nuke. The first week we got nuked twice, and I know we got nuked last Sunday on Terminal. I can't remember if that's all of it, but those three I remember very specifically.
So today I was hopping on and off MW2 because no matter what, I got placed in the room with people who are pants-on-head retarded. Bear in mind that the number of times I venture into a public room all by myself happens about as often as a Detroit Lions Super Bowl victory. But I just prestiged on Friday night, and I needed to get my level up there. The worst was that I didn't even have Blast Shield for the most part of my highly radioactive adventure through the public room. My day was spent losing many times, but there are a few maps that stand out.
Most of the losses, it was largely due to nobody on my team having a microphone, or just not using it, which I hate. One of the first few maps I play is Domination on Rundown. The map before that, my team got crushed and just barely did we kill a guy who was gunning for the nuke. So it puts me on the same team the next map, and I notice the same guy is going off on a streak. I track him down, but he kills me, so I shout out to everyone that he's going for the nuke, he's up in the hidey-place in the Cantina. No one replies. He gets a chopper gunner, we start to get dominated. I think at one point it was 140-27. It was bad. Not as bad as the nuke that ended the map. Actually, I take that back because I would have preferred a nuclear holocaust than having to play another round with my team.
So I try another room, and it's Domination on Highrise. I'm having a pretty damn good round. Getting my UAVs and Counter UAVs and just pissing people off on the left side of the map. And we have the team just beat. They couldn't get to any base. Somehow, and it could have only been to idiots, once again not communicating and running out into whatever the fuck they can find, one of the opposing team players gets a Harrier. I'm staying inside, trying to stay away from it, and the players are running out onto Bravo and not trying to shoot it down. Chopper gunner. Second verse, same as the first. Highrise becomes Highly radioactive. Endgame. I finished 18-6, two kills coming because I spawned outside when the chopper was out there, and one of course because of the nuke.
As if it couldn't get any worse, I try a different room, yet again. Now this team, I'll give them credit, people were talking. Sadly, it was some 8 year old who just kept killing himself. This I partially blame myself for because I entered the room at the end of a map and stayed in the room, saying to myself that I would back out if I was put on the same team as this dumbass. Then my ADD kicks in and I get distracted with the Patriots game, and by the time I flip back, the game's starting up. The bastard is on my team. He went 1-86. I swear. The two leaderboards I saw, the guy was probably 1-150. By this point, I'm losing nearly every match I get in, winning percentage dropping like a Phoenix-crate, I swear I was this close to just calling him every God damned name in the book. There were a couple of times I said somethings I should not have said, but if you're just gonna dick around like that, fuck you! Needless to say, we got decapitated so fast that we got a chance to hear our bodies tumble to the ground. After that I found a different room, and just said "forget about winning, I'm going to be like the other assholes on my team and just care about how I do". I'll get my kills, get my rank up, but if we lose, so be it. I gave up a map or two later.
Then I play with DSA tonight, and we play 10 rounds, maybe lose one or two. Amazing, isn't it. I don't know how the other group did, but our side was tearing it up. Funny what a little maturity, common sense, communication and giving a damn about the game can do. It's not skill. God knows I'm the furthest thing away from being an elite MW2 player.
In one afternoon, probably within 20 minutes of each other, I lose via tactical nuke. Overall, including today, I have lost 5 times because of the nuke. 40% of the holocaust happened in 20 minutes. For a moment, I was right back on Endor in March of 2005, clanless, and being the only one on my team trying to blow up the Shield Generator CP while teammates were doing flips 'n shit on speeder bikes and "."'s stealing AT-STs to teamkill people. At that time, I wondered "why do I give so much of a damn of whether we win or not when my teammates won't give the same much?"
So to everyone in this clan that reads it, and if those outside the clan read it as well, maybe someone can get fired enough to join this clan, even if you're just a public player who does play the game the right way, thank you for do giving a damn.
