    My Christmas.....

So my Christmas started great but hectic......The day I have finals is the day my daughter decides she wants to become part of our world....December 17, 2009....Besides the fact that it was the same day I had to be in school things were fine.

The hospital we went to was great but the person helping with delivery was less then desired. We went to the hospital at 7pm and my daughter was born at 1015 in the morning....prior to going to the hospital I emailed my professor that I was headed to the hospital and that I needed and extension to come in on my own time and take my final.

Around 12pm that day I checked my email to see if my professor had responded and when I did....she did not grant me and extension....Now I know for a Fact that ALL student have until Sunday that week to finish up all finals...so I was pissed.

I had to leave my wife and newborn at the hospital and go to school to do my final. I have class between 10-2....so I rolled up around 1:15 McDonalds in hand and pissed as hell.

    Next day:

In the wake of a coming snow storm I returned to school to finish up my finals. I went off to school and I arrive to find that all the faculty is in a meeting and are not able to unlock my final. I was told to return in an hour and a half.....So off to the Portal...(a gaming room provided for the student.....best thing ever)

I return to the academics department.....only to be told that now all the Deans were in another meeting and ii have to return in another hour....mind you my wife and newborn are still at the hospital waiting for me to return.

An hour later I speak with the Dean. He then delivers some most needed good news. I don't have to retake my final and am able to return to my life.

This night we get 26 inches of snow breaking any other record of snowfall in 150 years.....knee high snow to shovel. Yay......thanks Nuguistic for your help bro.

    2 days later:

My wife is hang complications that carry on for 2 days and finally her fever shoots up to 104. So off to the Hospital we go at 6 am I have not slept in 48 hours....that same day I have to take both my children to the doctors for check ups and shots.....I have to fill out paperwork and I can't even remember my birthday which just passed 10 days prior.

    Christmas eve:

I start feeling like things are gonna finally calm down. My wife and I decide to stay up and play Santa for my 4 year old. We wrap gifts. Spoiler alert ......Eat cookies and drink the juice box my son leaves out for Santa......sorry there is no Santa...it has always been your Mom and Dad.

My wife finally goes to bed and leaves me to wrap her gifts. At 12pm Christmas Day....I hear my neighbor screaming like Jason was trying to kill her. I hear FIRE FIRE....holy Fuck......I grab my daughter, wake my wife, grab the fire extinguisher and we run downstairs......my neighbors boyfriend is ringing my doorbell like he's playing Street Fighter 2 Turbo when doing the bonus car distroy.

I hand him my fire extinguisher and he looks at me like HUH......I said to him GO....GO!!. It finally hits him to run back down to his place and put out the fire...I pack my family in the car and run back a few more times just to grab my cats. I grab my HDD....I can't find my black cat......I run to my room and with all the Adrenaline pumping I pick up my entire King size bed and flip it looking for my cat......I can't find her and I'm starting to worry, and I'm sucking in thick black smoke. I grab my laptops...leave the house get my air back....on the next run I find my cat grab her run to my car throw her in jump in my car and back the car out of the drive way into my neighbors.

    Today:

There is no damage to my things the firemen cleared my house of smoke before it settled but the Heat system in the house is what sent all the smoke around the whole building and it still smells. We have been living in my mother in laws house the last few days and we hate it cuz we want to be home resting after having a baby.

We are happy that no one was hurt and I think it has brought us and our neighbors together.....a Christmas Miracle of sorts but Dammit I want to be home playing with my son and daughter and letting my wife get some most needed rest.

I hope like gets back to normal for you soon.

Well I guess it all turned out ok in the end, you passed the test, your daughter is ok, your house isn't burned down and you and your neighbors are better friends. It sucks that you missed out on double cash but I am sure there will be another one. Congrats on the new kid and hopefully you get to go back to your house soon and your wife can get some rest.

Rage, as Brocman said, you may not see it now, but you were blessed. Your family is safe, you have a new 'lil one to carry on your name and bloodline, and you helped a neighbor and a new friend.

I salute you personally for your bravery and commitment. You are indeed a special person for going through all this hardship all at once, and keeping your sanity. I know that from being a soldier, it's only when the shit literally hits the fan, you truly see the nature of people, and the kind of person they are.

The biggest braggart becomes the coward, and the meekest can rise up and save everyone through their bravery. I know. I've seen it with my very own eyes.

Duty called, and you rose up to the situation, and kicked it right in the ass. You kept your cool, saved your family and your home, and helped a neighbor in dire need.

There is a tradition in the Stormtrooper Legions, that in honor of bravery, and since Stormtroopers are faceless enforcers of the Emperor's will, we never remove our helmets to the public, but in extreme situations of personal bravery, we join together as a group, remove our helmets and kneel before said individual, and show respect by showing you our true face in honor of your strength and bravery. It's only been done twice that I know of. Ever.

But know that this old Stormtrooper and Tie pilot kneels before you, and removes his helmet.

                      God bless you my friend.

And as the old Crusader blessing says: "May God hold you and yours, in the palm of his hand, 'till next we meet."

Honor your wife, and love your children. Life may be hard, but kiss them for me.
Work hard, for them, but also for yourself. And I'm NOT talking about employment. Your family is your employment from God. The job you work at is just a means to an end, to take care of your first job, as a Husband, and a Father.

As I know you will. You are an honorable man. And I cannot possibly think of a better gift, not only for yourself, but to your family, and all of your friends.

Take care my friend, and know that this too shall pass.

May God give you peace in this voyage we call "life". It isn't easy, fun, nor kind. But if....if you do it right, it can be one helluva ride. Ride well.

                      Tie.

Dammit Deslock you always make me tear up...I read this to my wife and she just Awwwed...Thanks. I surprised myself a bit....When it all went down I just kept going until I knew everyone was safe.

After that I tried to save what ever belonging were irreplaceable, My hdd was not that important but the pictures of my children's birth and my family photos were too priceless to leave behind.

                              Today:

We are still homeless.....I'm now staying at my mother's house. Our apartment while it did not burn down is not in living conditions since I have problems with allergies and I don't want my children breathing in the burnt smell.

The stupid property manager thought it would be a good idea to turn on the heat so that the pipes wouldn't freeze.....even though it's 40+ degrees.....before he did this my apartment would of been livable but now the smell has permeated all my clothes, bed and carpet. If he hadn't done so I would be home right now using my portable heaters to keep us warm.
