DSA Banner Contest

Open your Photoshop, Paintshop or other graphic design applications. Grab your beer, herbs (or whatever else gets your creative juices flowing) and get ready for the opportunity to have your work displayed for all to see.

The DSA is proud to announce it's first ever Website Banner Contest. The Empire is looking for the best graphic design artists in the galaxy to redo the main DSA banner on the top of the website. Contestants will submit their work via email, where the DSA will vote and select the top 5-10 (depending on volume) submissions. The name of the submitter will not be displayed with their work during the voting process to ensure Anonymity and prevent favoritism. The top 5-10 will then be displayed for all Citizens of the Empire to vote on the winner. The Winner will be announced in an article by the Imperial Press and have their work displayed proudly on the DSA website. All finalists will receive forum medals in recognition of their work. Do you think you have the talent and skill to outshine all the other artisans?

The Rules & Regulations
This contest is open to ALL registered site users. (Including DSA Officers)

• - All submissions must be Original work of the submitter
  
  - The Banner consists of only the middle image; the Death Star(left) and Vader/Emperor(right) images will remain. The Banner must be able to fit in the Green highlighted area in the following picture. Hopefully this clears up any confusion.
  
  
  - All submissions must be received on or before June 20th 2007.
  
  - All work must be submitted in .PNG, .GIF, .SWF, or .JPG format.
  
  - The banner must be 585 x 99 Pixels
  
  - The banner must have a transparent or pure black (#000000) background
  
  - The banner has to be open on both ends to blend into the background. (Banner can not be cut-off on the left or right side.)
  
  - If Aurek Besh is used, it must be the correct usage of the language (Learn more and download the proper Aurek Besh font from HERE
  
  - Only ONE submission per person is allowed.
  
  - Submissions must include your Name on this website as the email Subject.

It can be whatever your imagination desires, as long as it conforms to the rules listed (file type, dimensions, etc..)

Reminder to all to work on their submissions.

I posted about this at the blacksungfx.com website and know that we have at least one submission from somebody there. It would be great to have more for anyone who is interested.

Since my graphics work is limited to powerpoint sides in the late 90s for business presentations, I don't think I am up to the task personally.

I encourage anybody who is interested in such graphics work generally speaking to check out their website--they have a nice community of people who work together on different efforts. Great idea by them.

I received about 5 submissions, 3-4 of which did NOT follow the rules laid out in the original posting. The images MUST adhere strictly to the rules of the contest. All entries from this point that do NOT abide by the rules will be rejected.

The deadline for this contest is being pushed to June 20th. This will provide more then ample time for those to work on their submissions. Please take your time and shows us what you can really do with your abilities.

At this point anyone that has submitted should take a second look at their work and resubmit.

Ratix, for those that didn't, were the submitters told how they need to adjust their submissions to meet the requirements? Since this is a voluntary contest with no cash prizes, I hope that we can encourage anybody who went to the trouble of designing something to make the adjustments necessary.

I encourage those that have the love for GFX design to take the time to read and follow the guidelines.
Seriously though, I don't ming pushing the deadline back to give everyone the time to really impress us with what they can do. I see a lot of people that have taken the time to do some really nice looking sigs. I would like to see what these people could come up with given the opportunity. Those that show some really nice work I would even consider throwing some work and money their way for any future site revamping.

Can you please pm me with what ws wrong with mine. I did intentionally have some of the images to be cut off on the margins. Also I made sure the image was to size. So please pm me Ratix to tell me what was wrong I spent like 5 or 6 hours on photoshop. LOL. Thanks Man

Shocker, The images were cut off in the margins as you realized. Please correct and resubmit.

Rdaug, Your email somehow was corrupted and I was unable to view your work at all. Please resend as an attachment.

Note to all: Please Attach all images to the email. Please try not to use links to photobucket or other photo websites, even if it's your own domain. Just makes my life a little easier.
