Website Update

As most of you have already noticed, we have updated the website to the latest vBulletin version of 3.7.1

Here is a brief overview of the changes.

* Inline spam management & prevention
* Thread tagging
* Search cloud / tag cloud

* Reciprocal friendships between users
* Public visitor messaging on profile pages with 'conversation' feature
* User picture galleries with user comment facility
* User-created social groups with invite only and moderated membership options
* Extended member profile pages
* Customizable member profile pages with admin-controlled styling abilities
* Inline editing of custom user profile fields
* Lightbox viewer for attached images
* Viewable and comparable history maintained for post edits
* Extended re-authentication for inline moderation actions
* Notices system for navigation bar
* Multiple human-verification systems including reCAPTCHA, image verification and Q/A
* User change history
* Social bookmarking integration

ShoutBox
Also we have updated the shoutbox which has a slew of new features. You are now able to edit your font style and color by using the Options sections on the bottom.
You can also PM users within the shoutbox. Simply click on their name and a new tab will open. All chat done in this tab will only be seen by you and the recipient.
If the person is not listed in the shoutbox, you can use the following command to directly PM the user. this howevere, will not open a new tab, only PM the person.

Credit system has been revamped. Everyone should have at least 5000 credits at this time. Some have more based on Previous Credit amounts.

Credits can be obtained through various means. - All new Civilians (Valid Registered Users) receive 5000 induction credits.

- New site user referrals. Earn up to 100 for referring new members to the website.
- Granting Reputation. Give reputation to others and earn Credits.
- Rating Threads. When someone rates your thread you earn Credits.
- Birthday Bonus.
- Activity Bonus. Small Credit bonus each month for active users.
- Bank it. Bank Credits to your Savings account and earn 5% interest.
- Gamble it. Try out the Casino and your luck to turn your cash flow around.
>There are two lottery systems in place right now. one on the Credit Purchase screen and one in the Casino.

1000 Credits = $1
$5 Min purchase
Price Breaks for $10, $20, $30, $40, and $50.

In a crunch and need some Credits, Take out a Loan! Of course you have to make the min payments and interest or face late fees and damaged Credit Rating (Credit Rating not fully implemented yet, but will be).


Arcade Changes
Jackpots are being added to the Arcade. You will have to pay a certain fee to play for the jackpot. The amount you pay goes towards the total Jackpot amount. Top 3 scores wins part of the Jackpot. Jackpot is divided by the Score rank of the player.
Example: If the Jackpot is 900 Credits, and you place 3rd. Your winnings will be 300 Credits. 2nd place 450 Credits, High score wins the Entire Jackpot. I will be added Jackpots to the more popular games over the next few weeks.

We will see how the credits work out with this setup. Some things may need to be changed down the road.

With all these new features, even the admins are still getting used to it all. For prosperity please feel free to reply to this thread with tips on any new features to help other users.

are you getting rid of the scrollbar on the shoutbox? I mean I don't know if you can, but I thought I remembered you saying something about that. Either way, the updates are cool.

Yes, eventually I will get rid of it. There's still so many other things I need to change and do that it's just not top priority right now. I will get to it though. Only so long I can stare at it before it starts to aggravate and mock me.

Not sure if you want us to post any problems with the website here or not, but I have noticed when I play Desktop Defense, it always logs me out when I finish the game. (well it shows that I am not logged in and I always have to re-login onto the website) Not sure if this is happening with other games in the arcade, but I will post anything I find.

Whenever I exit Firefox and open it back up again I have to log in. My remember me button doesn't work. Maybe some thing is up with the cookies?

The arcade should now be recording the scores properly again for all games. When updating the forums it removed a piece of code from one of the pages.

lol, I don't think there will be much talk until the draft and when player movement begins!!! Maybe we'll actually make a splash, but then again we are the sabres.:(

The shoutbox PM can only do two people. Although the Flashchat is always an option. I added a link top the top of the site for it. It should be fully embedded in the site as well now. So you can use the shoutbox and Flashchat at the same time.

A few others have no mentioned this problem, I can't seem to replicate it on IE or FF. When does it Log you out, only when you play that specific game, or other times as well? Are you clearing your private data in FF when you close it?

Try to manually logout then back in. Might be a conflict somewhere. Or try to clear all your cookies and cache and see if that helps.

I get logged out every time I leave the site. or sometimes even if I sit idly on the site and do something in a different window, i get logged off. It doesn't look that way until I click on a link in the site and it takes me to the sign in page.

The thing that I have noticed is it no longer takes me the the first unread post of a topic but always to the original post. Its no big deal if it cant be fixed it was just a nice luxury to have.

You will notice a little arrow next to the thread title on the main page. If you click that it takes you to the last unread post. Clicking the title itself takes you to the original post. It took me a bit to get used to as well.

Zab, clear any username@darksidealliance.txt files in your C:\Documents and Settings\YOUR USERNAME\Cookies folder to clear IE cookies for the website. Or in FireFox Tools -> Options -> Privacy -> Show Cookies then look for the Darksidealliance entries and remove them.

Also you may want to check what other security software you have installed that might be interfering. But these are most likely just a cookie conflict as it cleared up for norm.

I think it might have worked Ratix. I had two cookies. I deleted them both. Logged off. logged back on.

I tried closing the window and opening it again---so maybe it works. We'll see. Thanks for the help.

I'm curious, do the credits still have any monetary value (like after getting 100,000 you could get a $10 gift card) I mean, I think they used to, but since everyone got 5000 for free I would think that would have changed.
