Few months ago I finally broke down and got a new phone. When the old one was getting spotty on receiving txt msgs and phone calls, figure it was time.
As much as everyone was praising the droid, I really didn't want the same phone as everyone else. Nor did I want to support the new CIA buddy, Google, in anything they do.
So I went for the HTC Touch Pro2, unlocked and running Energy ROM.
However I also have XDA Android Project port installed. So I got the best of both worlds.
I actually prefer having a stylus and access to older RTS games right on my phone, like Age of empires, Starcraft, Warcraft, etc.. As well as good old fashion emulators. Instead of remade crap for easy touch phones.
Good sites for apps and things that Hogezz listed is Mobilism.org or xda-developers.com

I had the Touch Pro 2. That's a pretty good phone except for the fact that it has windows on it. When you first buy a phone it shouldn't crash on you just from starting it up. I also installed the Android project but when it first started out so there still were some issues.
I'm liking the Android phones personally. I do like tons of free apps and I was just invited to play around with App Inventor.
lol, anyway, I just wanted to throw up some suggestions to supplement to Hogezz app list:
360 Live - See online Xbox Live friends, send & receive messages, accept & send friend requests, compare games & achievements. How did noone mention this yet? ;)
LauncherPro - The ultimate customizable launcher replacement, # of home screens, change homescreen softkeys, 2D/3D appdrawer, free version is VERY comprehensive
My Tracks - records your GPS tracks and shows live statistics such as time, speed, distance, and elevation – while hiking, cycling, running, etc., upload to Google maps
RadioTime - more than 30000 radio stations streaming live.
Package Tracker Pro - What it sounds like, always know the status of items you are sending or receiving: FedEx, USPS, UPS, DHL USA/GM/UK, City Link, Royal Mail, Parcelforce, TNT, OnTrac, Canada Post, Purolator, Estafeta, Swiss Post, Aramex, Norway Post, LaserShip
Beautiful Widgets - beautiful set of Widgets containing two skinned clocks + weather widget with forecast and nice weather animations (rain, storm, etc), 230+ skins
Blackmoon Attachsave - A small, on-demand app that will save any Gmail attachment to the SD card and view it from there. Functionality that should have been standard w/ Android, but at least this app fills that void.
Meebo IM - multi-network IM app: AIM, MSN, Yahoo, Google Talk, Jabber, and ICQ.
Movies (Flixster) - movie reviews, trailers and showtimes, buy tickets, see upcoming movies, dvds, release dates, movie trailers, etc.
Wireless Tether (if youre phone is rooted) - This program enables wifi AND bluetooth-tethering for "rooted" handsets so you can use your cellular data connection for internet access on your computer/laptop.
Tapatalk - provides super-fast forum access with over 6000 forums activate Tapatalk support - Ratix just installed the server end of this, so darksidealliance.com is covered. =)

Yeah I ain't gonna lie, the stock sucks ass. Never had any crashing issues though But that's not why I got it. I got it for the fact that there are hundreds of cooked ROMs for it. This is the one I'm using now
And the Android project just recently started to make leaps and bounds on the progress. It's about 95% functional, with only small bugs still remaining. Either way, two phones for the price of one. Can't beat that.
