    7 or 8

ok so i had vista 64 bit and when my harddrive was ruined a few years ago I got a new hard drive that has windows 7 on it. Was recently playing games online SC2 to be exact and have had some problems with core out of memory. The solution would appear to be having 64 bit instead of 32 bit which I thought I did have 64 in the repair process but do not.

So my question is what OS and setup would be better for my system or do any of you like windows 8 enough to recommend it?

Well I prefer 7, but all the new models have 8 now. I can tell you that Windows 8 takes some getting used to. Mostly because the whole interface is different.

Windows 8 was designed in a way that it uses a specific amount of RAM. Previous versions used a percentage. It's also made to sync with any other windows 8, tablet, cell phone, the next XBox. It's designed to be the first truly synchronous OS. What you do with one, you do with all.

I would get Win7 over Win8. Win8 is selling very poorly and Metro is not that great. As for version 64bit will let you have more the 4gigs of ram. That is good to have if you are going to make up a gaming PC. What is your budget for a new computer?

Well my current pc already is pretty beefed up on most everything just seems like the 32 bit is holding it back to less than 4 ram

Stay clear of Windows 8, it's complete crap. If you have a tablet, then maybe, but definitely not for a desktop or laptop.
Windows OS holds true to very specific rule. Every other OS they release sucks.

              Win 98 Good
              Win ME/2000 Crap
              Win XP Good
              Win Vista Crap
              Win 7 Good
              Win 8 Crap

The next version of windows will be good though. It seems every other release they rush out and try new shit with, but then perfect it for the following Os release.

As for RAM and bit version, if you have 4GB of RAM or more, or even 2GB with a 2-4GB Video Card, go with 64bit or else the system won't use all the memory available.
All 32bit systems, whether it be windows, linux, etc.. are limited to 4GB (3.4 or 3.7GB actually) of memory.

So my overall recommendation is Windows 7 64bit.

As everyone else said, Win7 is the better of the Window's Operating systems at the moment.

Go with Ratix on this one Jake. You really want a 64 bit system because it offers you more such as up to 128 GB of RAM with other hardware supporting it. It also works better with virtual systems such as VHD's, VLAN's, HyperV, and VM Ware. Also, 64 bit operating systems are more responsive when running multiple programs than 32 bit and a 32 bit program can run in a 64 bit system but not vice versa. Windows 8 will just compile your gaming issues.

Here is a link to where you can get legit copies of win7. All you need is a CD key. http://www.mydigitallife.info/window...-home-premium/
