    PSN problems

Lately I have been having problems with my PSN connection. When I am at the XMB and log in, if I stay at the XMB, then I will stay logged in. Once I start any game I get kicked off the PSN. I will then sign in again and within 30 seconds get kicked off again. This will happen 3 or 4 times before I can stay online and not worry about getting kicked off. The internet connection while I am playing is fine and on my computer I have had no problems. Is this a problem with my internet, the PSN, my system, or something else? I am a little stupid when it comes to electronics so any help with this would be appreciated.

I had recently changed my comcast account, using the same equipment however. PC and external devices worked just fine, and being logged into the XMB was fine. But couldn't maintain a match on UMvC3 or even host a room. Called comcast to see if was an issue with my connection, which is wasn't. So I went on some forums to look up the error code (870001178, or something close to that) I kept getting when doing my nine thousand connection tests and network configurations. So I took to the forums. Found a good thread with people having a similar problem.

The soulutions people suggested ranged from resetting your equipment (unlugging the modem and router, letting it rest for several minutes), reconnecting, and configuring your network automatically. To manually inputting your DNS address. The first I tried was a universal address that someone got from google. Primary 8.8.8.8 secondary 8.8.4.4. When that didn't get my results I was able to look up my ISP's region specific DNS configurations. That didn't really work.

So after much much frustration, I did one final auto network configuration and turned my shit off. Then I unplugged my modem and router and left them off ALL night. When I tried in the morning everything seemed to work fine. I played UMvC3 for like 3 hours with a guy from Georgia and worked fine ever since.

......untill yesterday when I was playing Street Fighter. I lost connection to the PSN in the middle of a ranked match and was returned to the main menu. I hit the home button only to see I was still signed in. So I selected network battle from the menu only to be denied. "Here we go again," I thought. Yet, on my second attempt I was able to access the network menu and continue getting my ass handed to me.

So you are not alone, yet I do not know how much of this is on my end or on Sony's end. I thought I had it nipped in the bud, so I'm leaning to Sony maybe having some hiccups. I could be wrong, I'm a tech idiot as well.

Are you getting any error when signing out? If so, it would help to know which one. But if it's just randomly signing you out, then that's tougher to narrow down. It could have to do with your ports that need to be open for PSN, but it sounds like you had no problem prior to this.

I would say it's probably on the end of your ISP, and Sony also.
I find ironic that I only seem to get booted off of Sony servers when I'm having a really good BF3 game, and get cheated out of my points.

But I'd say it's Sony. Whenever I download a majorly large proggy like I did recently with GIMP, my 'puter had absoloutely no problems whatsoever, and did so very quickly actually, but when I decided to download the new maps fo BF3, it took 24 hours, and I had to hardwire my line out of my router and directly into my modem to keep it from logging me off and disconnecting from the download.

I think it's just BF3. I've noticed that lately it has taken two or three attempts to get onto the BF3 servers. You would have thought things like this wouldn't happen on such a seasoned game. Take DUST for instance. I've jumped off DUST to go onto BF3 and get those server connection timeouts. No problems on DUST. This just happened initially and once I'm on I'm fine.
