    to router or not to router

    here is my problem i have a cable modem and a router for a regular phone line that has the phone jack and 4ether net ports in the back ot it,my ? is can i use that to connect my ps2 directly to the internet ? or would i have to get just a plain old network router just designed for ether net cables any help would be greatly apreciated

    Didn't you post something about router issues already? You should probably clarify in that thread rather than make a new one. Anyways....

    Either you have an old router that was for use with an old fashion modem or it might be a DSL modem/router combo (phone line in > Cat5, what you are referring to as ethernet, cables out). What you need is a router with the Cat5 cable port that says "WAN" or "Internet" then has all the other outs on it. You would connect your modem via a Cat5 cable to the router than everything else to the router.

      what exactly is the question? I don't get it.

      I connect to DSL through a wireless connection and a router with no issues for my ps2.
