Need help resolving an IP conflict

I've been getting this little message recently when I turn my computer on if I have either the PS2,360,Nintendo DS or Nintendo Wii online.
My computer is connected to a router which has worked pretty well for almost 2 years so far.
Can anybody help me resolve this little IP conflict?

Is it not letting you get online with the PC because of this? If so, the best thing you can do is make sure there is enough client leases (IP addresses) in the router or assign an IP to the PC and all other devices on the network. Not sure if the Wii has this type of option, most systems do though like the PS2, 3, and 360 where you can assign a static IP to that device. This is preferred as if you ever need to open ports for programs on the PC or even the 360, like resolving the NAT moderate problem for example you will want to assign the 360 a Static IP so the ports are always forwarded to the right device.

If you don't know your IP lease pool, click on Start -> Run -> type "cmd" (no qoutes) and press enter. At the command prompt type "ipconfig /all" then enter. Look for the Deafult Gateway listing. This is the IP of the router itself on your network. usually linksys is 192.168.1.1 and the devices like your PC will be 192.168.1.100-150 or whatever.

First make sure you have enough client leases availoable in your router. Meanign the amount of IPs and addresses your router can assign to devices. If this is set to 3 client leases, you would have the IPs of say 192.168.1.100-103. To check this, login to the router admin panel as so.

Open up your IE or FF and type in your Deafult Gateway as the address. So again, if linksys it would be http://192.168.1.1. It will then ask for the user/pass. The default for linksys is admin:admin. If you haven't changed this, try the default for your router. If your not using linksys search on goolge for Deafult Router Passwords and you should be able to find a list with the default logins for most popular router brands.
Once logged in try to look for the section that has Client Leases or somehting along those lines. The Client leases are how many devices the router can assign an IP to, or basically how many IPs the router has to give out on your network. Make sure this is set high enough for all your devices to connect, 1 lease for each device. Sometimes if the client lease is too small you will get conflicts as you are experiencing. This is because two devices will get the same IP address due to a lack of extra ones. Upping the leases will resolve this.

To assign an IP to your PC, go to the Control Panel -> Network Connections -> Then right click on the active connection and choose properties. Click on the "Internet Protocol TCP/IP option in the list and click on Properties. For both the IP and DNS sections you want to use the manual settings. Then for the IP type 192.168.1.102 (or whatever your IP pool is and whatever number you want to assign the PC). the subnet should be 255.255.255.0 and the default gateway you get as stated before from the "IPCONFIG /ALL" info, in this case example 192.168.1.1. The DNS servers should be the same as the default gateway. If you have DSL you might have to enter in a diffferent DNS. After changing the settings accordingly, Click OK on both windows and open the Start -> RUN box once more. Then type in the RUN box itself "ipconfig /release" and then right after that type "ipconfig /renew". This will release your computers IP settings and renew it with the new settings. Or you could just restart your computer. In most cases the first option is quicker.

After that you should assign the IPs you want to each device on the network (wii, ps2/3, 360, etc..), making sure to use a different IP for each one of course. These are usually in the network setup sections of the device. The settings should be similar to those of the PC settings, needing only the new static IP your assigning, subnet, default gateway and the DNS info.

Hope this helps out, let me know if you need anymore help.

Glad to hear it. Did you go through the assinging of IPs or did increasig the client leases work? just curious.

It didn't tell me the number of leases, but I was able to assign the systems with proper IP addresses.
