I am buying a new laptop this week but am in a tight spot choosing between the Amd 64x dual core processor or the Intel duo core 2 processor. Any suggestions?

Intel is probably better long term stability, whereas AMD usually packs better Graphic chip sets with their systems. So it depends on what your going to use the system for.
Check out Newegg.com for better deals on laptops."POWER!!! UNLIMITED POOWWWEEEER!!!!!!

I sold computer for awhile, AMD is the way to go if you are looking for gaming. If you want to go with Intel then make sure you get one that has at least 2GB of RAM, more is better, and do your best to get rid of Vista and see if you can get XP installed. You'll have to custom order one for that though probably.Comment

Vista is such a resource hog and a POS. If you have an old laptop or desktop with XP on it, look for the multi colored label with the CD-KEY on the case (if it was name brand bought like Dell or Whatnot, will usually have it). Then get yourself a hold of the 11-in-1 XP DVD that's floating around and wipe the new laptop drive and install XP when you get it. Usually will have a lot of unneeded extra programs anyway so this will help clear it out."POWER!!! UNLIMITED POOWWWEEEER!!!!!!

Personally I never had a problem with Vista even with all of the security check nonsense. The security stuff is actually a good thing in my case because my little girl is always jumping on the laptop pushing all the buttons. I haven't had a problem with Vista so far or running any programs on it.

The security stuff isn't really a problem, you can always disable it anyway. It's just that it eats up a lot more CPU and RAM then XP does to run. So for gaming or heavy applications your losing performance.
I keep having arguments with myself in my head over Vista. When XP first came out, I refused to give up my 98 (I still think 98 was the best and most stable of them). So I wonder if it's a matter of just getting used to it or not. Or waiting for them to tweak it a lot more like when I finally did switch to XP when SP2 hit."POWER!!! UNLIMITED POOWWWEEEER!!!!!!

I plan on putting off upgrading my OS for a while anyway. By then, windows will hopefully come out with something that doesn't suck as bad as vista does.sigpic<a href="http://profiles.us.playstation.com/playstation/psn/visit/profiles/Brocman"><img src="http://fp.profiles.us.playstation.com/playstation/psn/pid/Brocman.png" width="230" height="155" border="0" /></a><br/><a href="http://www.us.playstation.com/PSN/SignUp">Get your Portable ID!</a>
