    Server Ranks

Buying ranks would be a good way to help keep people from hording large sums of money and give people a goal to work for.

Each rank would cost X amount

    Rank 1 can only rent
rank 2 all above with buy a plot from a land owner
rank 3 all above with travel to other planets
rank 4 all above with Buy a town
rank 5 all above with place water and lava
rank 6 all above with turn off town mobs
rank 7 all above with special commands
"Thrawn: "Do you know the difference between an error and a mistake, Ensign?"
    Colclazure: "No, sir."
Thrawn: "Anyone can make an error, Ensign. But that error doesn't become a mistake until you refuse to correct it." [points at Pietersen, Rukh kills him] "Dispose of it. The error, Ensign, has now been corrected. You may begin training a replacement."

For Rank 1 and renting, are you referring to the server city rentals only? Not really possible for towns to have rentals. Or it kind of is, but it's won;t be permission controllable. The only way it could work is if the town mayor sets the to no building or destroying, and the player buys the plot.

Should we install a Jobs mod so people can gain money that way too? I mean without a town, or plot to mine or anything, how are they to get money to buy a higher rank? I guess they could join a town without any plots, and work the land for the mayor. The mayor could setup a chestshop where they can buy the materials they harvest.

Instead of buying ranks, we could use NPCs (If I can get it working right) and setup quests where they can unlock the skills(perms).

Well I guess what other people do with there towns is up to them. But rank 1 could be set to the section 8 homes in the city and they can also be given access to Alderaan.

Think of rank 1 being the work force of the server. They will need to be able to mine (Alderaan) or work farm land owned by players.

The NPC thing sounds great. When they earn enough money they go talk to the NPC to buy the next rank.

Well rather then just paying an NPC, which could be done by signs and seems a waste of an NPC. We can do some sort of quest instead.

Like maybe the NPC directs them to take the train West, where they can rent farm plots. And once they gather enough wheat or something, they give to the NPC to prove they can work the land and run a plot, thus granting them access to the next level.

To unlock other planets, we can make a quest where they have to deliver an item to another NPC on another planet. Each delivery opens up a new world.

To be able to buy a town, they have to do some other quest for a city server council NPC or something. Maybe kill some things, some mining, some other things, that unlock town placement on that planet for them. I think that's possible to setup.

This would give a sort of MMO RPG type feel to it.

I also want to use NPCs to setup the learning of spells (the force?). I still need to sort through the spells and only activate the ones that would make sense for force abilities.
